TIMradio #7: John Forman, Author Of The Essentials Of Trading
Posted by Pallian (Moderator) on Sun 6th of Jul, 2008 11:14:44 AMOh yes, the podcast interviews just keep coming…this latest installment is with John Forman, author of the outstanding trader psychology book The Essentials of Trading, which is REQUIRED READING. He’s even got an entire blog, coincidentally named TheEssentialsOfTrading.com, dedicated to teaching the same principles!
In both his book & site, he’s got time tested examples and exercises for novice and veteran traders alike…really gotta understand the emotions/psychology that play into trading if you’re gonna master it. For the 4938483rd time, successful trading is not just about making the right picks, it’s more about finding what strategies work best for you and then refining your skills through practice and discipline…
Sorry the volume is so weak on this one, it was my bad…just turn it up when John speaks cuz he’s really got a lot of good stuff to say!

TIMradio #5: Chris Lahiji, Founder Of LDMicro.com
Posted by timothysykes on Sun 8th of Jun, 2008 12:18:12 PMBefore I started going ballistic with all my press, there was a younger, more press-hungry microcap stock guy named Chris Lahiji. His claim to fame was reading something like 12,000 annual reports and he also managed to become the youngest mutual fund manager in history! While there was another young microcap guy who also got a ton of attention, Jonathan Lebed, who famously got sued by the SEC for manipulating stocks when he was just a wee little teenager, Lahiji’s fame, like mine, was due to legal financial activities, which, call me crazy, is a little more deserving of respect (even if our society sadly prefers crap like Scarface and Blow to the biographies of the true greats JP Morgan and Bernard Baruch).

TIMradio #4: Michael Covel, Best-Selling Author Of Trend Following & The Complete TurtleTrader
Posted by Pallian (Moderator) on Sun 18th of May, 2008 05:04:48 PM
There are finance writers and then there are finance writers. Sadly, most fall under the category “author only because it’s a great way to get exposure for fee-based businesses thus increasing income streams”. Yup, all you sugarcoating scumsuckers know EXACTLY who you are–enjoy your hedonist meaningless lives you soulless bastards–for too long you’ve helped nobody but yourselves, sullying the reputation of this once great industry!
Sorry I digress, some people just piss me off.
The good news is there are authors out there who write because they wish to share useful information, helping to teach you news ways of making money. I was fortunate enough to sit down and talk with one of the greats, the ever bustling best-selling author of two books that are required reading, Trend Following And The Complete TurtleTrader, Michael Covel. Forget buy and hold, these books are about those who have created fortunes from trend trading–and there’s quite a few of them…(remember Ed Seykota’s music video?) no wonder why he’s sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Click the interview button below and then go out and buy his books–you’ll be amazed at how well this strategy has fared, I know I was.
Listen to the Michael Covel Interview.
Sorry the quality isn’t perfect, but I’m still new at this so I can’t compete with podcast pioneer Disciplined Investor just yet
If you want to learn more about MC and the Turtle Traders , definitely check out his websites, MichaelCovel.com and his many cool Youtube videos. Stay tuned, he’s got a documentary film project in the works, guess who makes an appearance?
TIMradio #3: Tom Sosnoff, Founder of Online Broker Thinkorswim
Posted by timothysykes on Fri 9th of May, 2008 02:21:29 PMAs I sit here waiting for the near-inevitable crack in VRML’s stock price, I thought I’d offer up a podcast for your listening and learning pleasure: You’ve all heard me talk about how much I love and recommend Thinkorswim as a broker–not only do they have the best customer service/software, but they have solid borrows through Penson and most importantly, the people at the company actually try to help customers instead of ripping them off. Maybe that’s why there’s a Chicago-based firm, not NYC.
So for TIMradio podcast #3, I was fortunate to have a fine little chat with the man behind the curtain, Thinkorswim’s founder himself, Tom Sosnoff. Besides being a legendary options trader and frequent industry speaker, he’s one hell of a laidback / good guy…one of the few out there…so I hope I can still be like him when I’m that rich! Somehow I think all that power and money will go to my head…we’ll see.
Interview with ThinkorSwim Founder Tom Sosnoff
PS You’ll hear me say this is the first TIMradio, well, it turned out to be #3, but it’s still #1 in my heart :)
TIMradio #2: Cameron Fous, TheTechnicaltrader.net, Another Successful Microcap Trader Whaaaaat
Posted by timothysykes on Fri 2nd of May, 2008 03:33:32 PMAll right, stop, collaborate and listen, TIMradio is back with a brand new edition…everybody give a warm round of page views to Cameron Fous of TheTechnicalTrader.net who not only plays microcap stocks from the opposite side as me–meaning he buys them on the way up–he’s in Idaho or some weird place like that, he’s younger and a better trader than me (except the last 2 weeks, haha suck on that Fous!)–with his account up 450%+ in 2 years.

TIMRadio #1: Eddy Elfenbein, Mr. CrossingWallStreet.com
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Thu 1st of May, 2008 02:04:21 PMFinancial blogging has only been around for ages a few years, but already the cream has risen to the top. In my first TIMRadio podcast, I was fortunate enough to be joined by a prime example of that cream, Mr. Eddy Elfenbein, better known by his still-getting-better-by-the-day blog CrossingWallStreet.com. Have a listen and hear us talk about everything from edge-lacking market predictions and Eddy’s old microcap newsletter to my inability to be very outgoing or self-promotional
