The Timothy Sykes / A Sponsor To Be Named Later College Tour 2008/2009
Posted by timothysykes on Wed 7th of May, 2008 03:18:03 PM
After testing out my out my public speaking skills at University of Arizona, Rutgers University, University of Minnesota, Baruch College and Options University’s Online Trading Expo and receiving loud rounds of applause, more than one standing ovation and some great feedback (which you can see below), I’m ready to plan a national speaking tour! Students from the University of Maryland and University of Florida have already contacted me, but I wanna make one massive list right here so I can show sponsors and be all organized…somewhat.
So, if you’re a college student, frat brother, president of college/high school organization, basically whoever is part of some big community whose minds I can warp, leave a comment below so we can put this thing together, either gonna be in Fall 208 or Spring 2009!
Here’s just a sampling of the many testimonials:
“Attracting a diverse crowd of students from the University of Minnesota with varying levels of interest in Finance, Tim’s story kept everyone on the edge of their seats and asking for more. His casual demeanor, hysterical life experiences, and avant-garde trading style were both eye opening and entertaining. Overall, students left feeling inspired and motivated to learn more about finance as a hobby and potentially a career. Definitely a breath of fresh in the world of investing.”
-Dan Rice, President, University of Minnesota Investing Club

What My Friends In Town, Upcoming University Speech And Website Launch Mean To You
Posted by timothysykes on Thu 24th of Apr, 2008 05:31:45 PMI can’t even imagine how Arrington copes. Right now I’m blogging, researching potential trades, executing trades working on the new site and answering on average 300+ emails/day (no matter that I’ve repeatedly asked you guys to ask questions HERE) and I still can’t keep up. I think I’ve spoiled you; nay, I know I have. So for the next week or so, you’re gonna have to deal with my crazy schedule, friends, university speeches (University of Minnesota whaaaaaat!) and the launching of THIS new site on May 1st because I’m gonna be overwhelmed. My apologies in advance.

The good news is that once the new site is up and running smoothly, probly in the next month or so, and all the lazy people inevitably choose summer fun over hardcore learning and research, everything will be back to normal—nay, better than normal cuz the new site has a lot of features to make this more understandable to beginners—so celebrate!
In The Stock Market, Trust No One And No Company Cuz They’re All Sh@#!
Posted by timothysykes on Thu 17th of Apr, 2008 12:08:58 PM
Last night, to a clearly shocked stock market club of about 75 people at the University of Buffalo, that was the main gist of my speech. Not just because I was burned pretty damn badly on one of these microcraps in which I naively believed or because of the media idiots who pretend to be researchers not even because of all the manipulation. No, it’s because out of all the thousands of penny stocks, I’ve ever trade/researched, only a handful have ever remained in double digits for more than a few days/weeks! The truth is that all these companies are pretty close to failing so they’re desperate for attention / capital. And it’s that desperation from which you can profit because it makes everything real simple-like.
As those who’ve witnessed firsthand, I love speaking to big groups of people who for the most part have little to no stock market experience (if you wanna book me as a speaker, it’s $1,000 and travel expenses—just not worth my time for anything less since it screws up my trading and blogging).

Good Speech, Bad Pizza
Posted by timothysykes on Tue 12th of Feb, 2008 02:15:16 PMYou now when you wake up to 30+ Facebook friend requests from Rutgers students when you spoke to only about 40 people the night before and you’re getting messages like: “hey man. thanks for coming to RU! you bring a whole enthusiasm and honest knowledge to trading that ive never seen before”, you did something right. God, I love speaking—people and groups out there: book me, seriously—you won’t regret it, I just go crazy and let it all out. Think my book + swearing. Only bad part is the group gave me some pizza that tasted pretty good, but now it’s made me pretty sick.
