Know Your History: Video Documentary On The Great Crash Of 1929

Posted by timothysykes on Sun 24th of Aug, 2008 05:10:09 PM

As I close my book An American Hedge Fund by saying “We–the SEC included–need to learn from our failures as much as our successes because the better our understanding of the past, the better prepared we enter the future.”

So big ups to TEOT for posting THIS link to a near hourlong online video documentary on the crash of 1929.

The film is quality stuff, but if you really wanna know about the crash, you’ll also check out THIS book by the man JK Galbraith, who himself is a fascinating historical figure.

I just saw an infomercial for something called “BetterTrades.” As soon as I heard it say that you can trade “risk free”, I knew it was B.S. No trading system, no matter how good, is risk free!

Funny…I’m watching it right now….they feature testimonials from people…saying how much they made in one day or one trade…of course they don’t tell you how much people may have lost in one day or one trade…

  4. Good video

  5. trading groups on facebook think Tim is short BHBC and other stocks right now…how stupid that, making shit up…

  6. 1-All of Tim’s trades are on covestor
2-He send alerts when he trades.
What they may refer to is a comment on the Darkside of Trading “guys, you’re missing a perfect perfect setup….my TIMalert subscribers will know before the market open on Monday! hehehehe”
    but this is totally speculative.
Set your alarm for tomorow morning, lol.

  7. nah, they’re not referring to that comment. they think he’s ALREADY short, and then they go on to spitting out fundamentals lol…

  8. Thx for posting that Tim. Good history lesson. Post if you find any more vids

  9. Zykosis,
it’s all BS. There is no way they would know.

  10. lots of people posting fake stuff, covestor helps cut through all the BS

  11. yea i know it’s bs total_keops, that’s why i was pointing it out, lol.

I don’t get how people think they are good at trading when they have information that is wrong or made up. I mean the group a 1400 person group and they’re sending out wrong info. just about as scummy as the stocks they buy with their outrageous price targets.

  12. WOW what a video! That is a must see for everyone. My grandparents used to tell me stories about the crash and I never listened. Still to this day they have never invested any of their money in the markets. That is how it affect part of that generation.

Haha, BHBC isn’t even a Tim type play

  14. I can say now 53 minutes later that I really enjoyed watching that video and will probably watch it again. I like that kind of stuff.

  15. MITI short it

  16. I jumped in a bit later than you, shortit, @ $7.01.

What is your target to cover? I’m thinking that taking my gains here in the $6.5x range might be a decent idea, but then again a further break here might mean $5.5x in no time.
