I’m Going To Japan August 20th-September 1st, Got Any Tips/Connections?

Yes, the rumors are true, but don’t worry, I’m planning this entire vacation around internet access so I’ll still be doing my daily TIMalerts premarket watchlist and trading/alerting TIMalert subscribers to any and all worthy opportunities. In fact, as those of you who’ve read my book An American Hedge Fund know, I’ve profited handsomely while trading under less than ideal conditions cuz it forces me to pick only the most worthy trade setups. And of course the nasty 14 hour time difference will surely cure me of my impatience issues…
But I was wondering if any of you guys have ever visited/lived or have any friends/family there so you could give me some cool traveling tips/hook me up with your connections. I’ve been there a few times before–you know how I love my sushi–but it never hurts to ask others for some advice. I’m all good on what restaurants to go to–I’ve hand selected several superior ones and I’m def. gonna get a Flip Video camera so you can see just how perfect these meals are, but I’m looking for advice on cool attractions, things to do, etc.
FYI My girlfriend and I will be going to Tokyo, Kyoto, climbing Mt. Fuji and Mt. Koya

Go to the Mori building in Tokyo. You can get a drink at the top. Don’t get on the smoking section of the high speed trains.

Tim, I lived in Japan for about a year. While in Tokyo check out Roppongi. It’s the “melting pot of tourists” area. Very nice area. The Imperial Garden is neat to see too. Also, get yourself a subway map of Tokyo. You’re gonna need it, trust me.
While climbing Fuji, you can purchase a walking stick. There are stations that you can have the stick marked. I never bought it, thought it was a waste at the time, but now that I’m back in the states I wish I had.
Kyoto is very nice and traditional. It use to be the capital. Take thelas t letters, “to”, off of Kyoto and put it in the front of the remaining three and it spells tokyo, the current capital.

Tim, I can’t hook you up in Japan but if you come to Israel, you will be taken care of, plus the best humus you ever had in your life.
Last time I went to Tokyo, our guide took us to this quaint little town right outside of Tokyo called Kamakura. Nice quiet place with lots of Buddhist temples.
go to tsukiji(pronounced su-kee-gee) fish mkt in the morning to see them bring in fresh fish=sushi auctions! (4am ish). Or, go there sometime AM for great sushi…any of the teeny stores inside the mkt will serve great fish. if u’re not sure which one, then just go w the ones w the most ppl-yeah gotta wait, but those stores will prob have english menus so easier for u to see what u can pick & eat.

I’m jealous. Japan is one of my favorite places.
1. If you can, get your ass to Nara. Its a little city/town with the largest wooden temple in Japan. Walking around this city is incredible with deer everywhere. You think I’m kidding. Outside the train station there is a giant map of Nara and all the places to see. There are a few UNESCO sites there.
If you are staying in Kyoto for any length, hop a train for a day trip to Nara. Its not crowded and Kyoto is.
I was in Japan for 3 weeks (tokyo, kyoto, osaka, nara, mt fuji, hakone) and it was maybe the highlight of the trip.
2. Food basement halls at department stores everywhere.
3. Meiji Shrine, Ueno park, and Tsukiji in Tokyo.
ya, i spent summer doing research there in 2004…here’s the big big tip…buy a translation machine…one that repeats the words out-loud for you….they have all the sayings you will need
oh one more…go see the Sumo Wrestling matches…they are incredible
