8 Stocks I Investigated To Potentially Short Sell Today, See The Results Here

Tags: Uncategorized

UAUA & LCC are just two of several rebounding airline stocks, now financing/news plays, not for me, less predictable

MKTY is my #1 potential short today, especially on any spike, I was early shorting yesterday, but played it safe and even managed to escape with a small gain…TIMalert subscribers know all about it as the subscriber-only website had over 100 comments yesterday (new record!)…also discussed in my blog post last night…this is a pure pump, but it’s only a $25 million company so it can go further than you think possible…yesterday was 2nd big up day, if this pattern holds true, the 3rd day is tough for it to finish up big, let alone up at all…of course the pattern h as mutations so maybe we’ll get a true Supernova here…at the very least, I’m hoping it can squeeze some early shorts past the the key $5 resistance

ZYXI is the latest TIMalert pick to be a giant success…I detailed the alert/a few TIMalert subscriber testimonials in a post last night, but the truth is it’s really not that hard of a pattern for you to profit form on your own—look for vertical stock charts on piece of crap companies that have soooooo many pumpers hyping their shitty biz, wait for the first down day—ideally it’s a small downer—and then short sell…presto your 10-20% profits will be ready within 1-2 days…this one is 12% in 1 day…not sure why some peeps think yesterday was the first down day, only advice I an give to them is get some glasses, although this probly will downtrend more, maybe to the $2.50 area

WDG got some $ from owning a stake in a company that was sold, useless for trading purposes

DTG is a Lionmaster pick, he loves gaming these kinds of hard hit stocks, aiming for a slight rebound, seems to work well, too bad he’s not a true pumper cuz I’d short the f%^& out of these turds if they ever wet up enough…no resistance til $10 so let it run, I’m not interested

HYHY is baaaaaaaaaaack! Or at least its trying to be, volume is anemic, somebody should tell the to spam more cuz that’s the only reason why anybodu would be interested in this turd

LBAS probly will keep making new highs, very very MXFD-like, can’t help but admire these scumbags/frauds…IDAE is so next in line, consolidating on light volume, really needs to prove it can get over $3 and run with the big boys after sucking in shorts, otherwise, the shorts will be proven correct and that’s just not fun…maybe I should start a pro-fraud website “FraudsAreFun.org” cuz they really need a helping hand during their formative months

Looks like ToS ran out of MKTY shares. I had some reserved earlier then came back later to put in a placeholder order to modify later and the broker said they were out before i could tell him I had some reserved. so looks like the alert subs got them all.

If it doesn’t make it thorugh 5, what kind of weakness would you wait for before pulling the trigger on mkty?

I have 1000 shares ready to short.

and that mym friends is the value of TIMalerts, everybody gets to see my watchlists, but only the early ones–subscribers who get the email at 8am–will be able to reserve shares on these hard to borrow names

fuck the SEC, this is a case where i’d love to buy intot hat 13k sell block at 5.07, possibly ride it to 5.50, then go short…SEC rules limits my trading so i gotta focus only on the SEC, fuck, fuck, fuck the sec

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:08 am

arcus, yes he means he can’t do taht because he’s under $25K and can’t tarde as often as he wants.

  14. 14PCola

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:10 am

King, why did you short at $5.01? That would be the last place I’d short, as when it broke $5, it got exponentially more likely to run. Maybe short at $4.99 and hope it doesn’t break $5 (but that’s not trading, that’s gambling). Just keep that in mind for future reference.

It’s okay he shorted at $5.01 as this lost its MOJO most likely to hit $4.50 or below some point today. Way overbought here

  18. 18timothysykes

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:17 am

yes king,, that’ll teach u to short a stock just after it breaks resistance to the upside…PS i shorted at 5.40 so i thin i got your shares!

    TIM,

when i reserve shares in the morning, and TOS ask me what price I want it at.

How do you determine what price to get it at.

  20. 20MARC

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:32 am

What generally happens once a buyout is announced? Stock jumps upto the projected price per share of the buyout. What next does?

  21. 21Jaguars

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:32 am

There is no bid support whatsoever, good size sale at $4.70 at the ask

Beautiful triangle forming on the SQNM 3 month daily chart… could break out any time now imo…

  23. 23getshorty

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:36 am

Marc, once a buyout isannounced, the acquired company price spikes up, sometimes huge, but once the info is outthere, is a guessing game, so unless CEO uncle told you his company was going to be acquired beforehand (illegal insidert info) you have no edge whatsoever. THe spike comes when then the info goes public, after that is guessing.

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:54 am

Took my profits for MKTY covering at 4.70…i had an order working at 4.49 and it rebounded right above it at 4.50-4.53ish.

with my measly 200 shares I banked my first real TimAlert profit of $54. Subscription paid for and plenty happy to make an extra 50 bucks in the hour or so that I am waiting for a stupid contractor to show up and finish a ventilation job in my basement.

Thanks Tim for the set up. Once you predicted the setup I should have just went for it instead of waiting to see the alert. I still made money even when i got in about 1min late.

  29. 29YoungGunz

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:57 am

Like the alert said everyone should have known exactly when you were going to move and I even thought to myself, *He’s probably jumping on it right now I should just do it* 30 seconds went by and the price tanked from 5.40 to 5 and I jumped in. Saw the alert come through my email notifier seconds later.

  30. 30UFgemini

    July 23rd, 2008 at 10:58 am

well…looks like UVSE finally has some movement upward after they diluted the hell out of the shares….HTOG has leveled off…if it breaks a penny…watch out.

Tim is right when he says his ultimate goal is for us not to need him anymore, Yesterday and today I reserved Zyxi and MKYT even before the alert. Think I may be getting it with these patterns.

Shorted 200 shares of mkyt at 5.25 (should have known better and shorted the whole 1000 shares at this point) Then I shorted my remaining 800 shares at 4.95. COvered 500 shares at 5.43.
Still holding 500 shares short waiting for the afternoon fade (or maybe dive, you never know with these pumpies)

Day would have been even better if it was not because I was still 1500 short of zyxi, covered 700 shares at 2.83 and still holding 800 shares short, now floating around 3.02-3.08.

Account back up where it was before my previous 2 days screw ups. But have learned a lot in the way.

    Tim,

I signed up for your Timalert.com but i can’t access the members area….? I’m not getting alerts as well. What went wrong?

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:30 am

If I buy 500 shares of a stock, then buy 500 more shares a couple of hours later, then sell all 1,000 shares at the end of the day….does that count as 1 day trade or 2 day trades?

    Thanks

  38. 38getshorty

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:31 am

TYPO post 35 “covered 500 shares at 4.43″

  39. 39UFgemini

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:33 am

jimmyjame…that counts as 2 day trades i believe

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:39 am

    shorty, whats your $profit?

jason, takes 1-2 days to get u onto the premium website

mark it down poor peeps who aren’t in TIMalerts, nice 15%+ drop fromt he time the alert to short went out…even those who got in late after the spike around $5 are now up 70 cents/share!

  41. 41YoungGunz

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:39 am

i think if you just buy and sell the same stock in the same day it counts as 1. since you can short 2k and cover later and only 1k get filled and the other 1k get filled later they don’t ding you twice. I think if you go all in all out twice you get dinged twice. Not in a little in a little then all out.

    Guys,

What brokerage firm do you use to short OTCBB stock? Scottrade doesn’t allow me to short any stock which is trading at below $5.

  43. 43Steph

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:41 am

getshorty… that’s better! way to go! i gotta jump in and try it one of these days. all my $$ is with schwab and i can’t see how to reserve shares with them. i may have to open an acct elsewhere, but that’s a big ol’ PITA.

  44. 44UFgemini

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:44 am

Thinkorswim is only broker i know that allows you to short OTCBB

    July 23rd, 2008 at 11:49 am

jimmyjames, that would only count as one daytrade. You can buy as many times as you want in different orders, just remember to sell it all in one order. Each sell order will count as a daytrade unless you sell it the next day, then you can break your sell orders into different lots.

I have been trading full-time since 2005 and had to go through the same hardships with the pattern day trade rules since i started with 10k. Once you are over 25k, keep following the rules untill your account gets to at least over 30k since if you start daytrading once your accounts gets over 25k and it dips below it then you will be restricted. Also remember if you are classified as a daytrader, you are allowed a one time exception to restore your account back to regular status. Just call your broker and tell them you want to use the one time exemption. Good luck folks, once you get over the bumps and get a feel as to how the system works, its a good living.

    July 23rd, 2008 at 12:01 pm

mbaugh, out of curiosity, and of course if you don’t mind me asking. What kind of money do you make doing this full time, and with how much money do you trade with in your account?

  48. 48mbaugh

    July 23rd, 2008 at 12:24 pm

Marc, I average about 6k a month. Thats after many hardships and bumps along the way. I began with 10k in 2005 and brought it up to over 170k in late 2006. I trade with 100k right now with everything above that going into my checking account and another account for savings. My biggest winner was my short on host america (cafe) i believe its on the pink sheets now, made over 65k on that trade alone even though the stock was halted for over a month, couldn’t get my money until they started trading again, but it was worth the wait. It was a fraud food company claiming to be an energy company installing energy efficent light bulbs in wal-mart. Anyways, back to trading, the one thing I learned is to be successful in this game is to always keep the trades small. Many people fail because as their accounts get bigger, they trade bigger orders thus causing bigger losses if the trade goes against them. This is what happened to me, I started trading using only 1000 share lots, but then started doing 5000, 10,000 share lots and thats when i started to lose big. Its better to keep your orders small and slowly grow your account. And to avoid margin if possible. By keeping the orders small, I can trade many different plays at one time. It also helps to follow many different blogs such as tim’s (i don’t subscribe, but i’m thinking of joining soon) to get as many trade ideas as possible. I used to belong to 3stocksonfire.com but dropped it when the main founder quit, they suck now. Bottom line, keep your orders small, exit your losses quickly, and keep your cool!
    Good Luck!

Is this the good time to short the stocks of Airline sector?

    What do you think?

    July 23rd, 2008 at 12:28 pm

I think about 3 hours ago was the time to short airlines…
