4 TIMalerts, 4 Base Hits, If Not Home Runs aka Safe Small Profits Pay the Bills

Tags: Good Trades, Safe Trades, TIMalerts, Testimonials

Sometimes there are just tooo many trades, too many blog posts, for me to keep up with in real-time…so here are my last 4 trades, all of which were safe and successful, as told through the unedited TIMalerts along with some testimonials from happy TIMalert subscribers

PS I’m now up 10% on the month, 80% since November 2007 and if any of you lil bitches don’t believe me, you can see ALL my detailed trades HERE all verified by Covestor, which taps into my brokerage account—so you can follow me on there too (click HERE)

July 11th bought 3,000 IdeaEdge, Inc. (IDAE) at an average of $2.27ish

this is a perfect breakout, chart is strong, social networking gift cards for launch this fall, whatever the hell that means, myspace parent company founder joined board..i’ve been telling promoters who call me to create a social networking pump, maybe this is it…unfortunately somewhat illiquid

July 12th still holding 3,000 shares of IDAE long, see my detailed research here

Hope everyone’s having a good weekend, I’m still holding 3,000 shares of IDAE and judging by the strong close on Friday, I’m expecting big things–think $2.50-$3, maybe even $4 (outside shot) on Monday, Tuesday and maybe even Wednesday next week (these things like to run 3-4 days when they breakout so perfectly–last time it ran from $1.40 to $2.15 in 3 days)…obviously, you still need to be careful since its a sketchy OTCBB stock, but see my full post on it HERE

July 14th: Sold all IDAE at 2.49, 10% profit

i patiently patiently patiently waited 15 minutes (seriously felt like an eternity for me), really didnt want to flip it so fast, but a.) gap ups make me uncomfortable (reversals happen), b.) there are a lot of sellers and c.) i know many of u have similar levels of impatience so i cant risk it tanking…actually one of my larger gains at 10% in 1 day, or $630 after commissions…good pick, probable continuation, but i’m just steadily working my way to $25k so i cant hold stocks longterm….now at $21,560….up 6% on the month, 74% since november 2007…if and when u guys sell, please post your dollar gains on my site so i can highlight them!

End Result: Stock kept going up to $2.80 over the next 2 days…a 22% gain from my alert….some TIMalert testimonials:

Thanks TIM for the quick $600 on IDAE!
-Kevin

Tim, you are the best
i bought idae in the worst time yesterday…sold in a bad timing today
still made $540 from 6,000 shares
been in peter leeds.com, been in portfolio crafter, made a little money from their picks
but not close to what i make from tim alerts!
thank you
-Gil

$210 gain on IDAE long in my IRA account
-Barrett

Thanks to Tim & TIMAlerts, I made $500+ on IDAE this week alone not to mention some smaller gains on other TIMAlerts.
-Brickhouse

Tim . . got out of IDAE. . . made $247 profit. .. thanks for the pick!
-Deuce

I made about $220 on IDAE after fees and commissions… I’ll take it any day.
-Oracle of NYC

I just sold my 5K shares at 2.44 and 2.45…Tim, for your records I pulled in $777 before commission
-PCola

Without TimAlerts, I made $10.04 on IDAE across two accounts (just got out of 2nd account @ $2.54)…With TimAlerts I would have been up $500. Needless to say I immediately signed up for TimAlerts
-yaktipper

July 15th: bought 1,000 MAINLAND RESOURCES (MNLU) at $6.37, sold at $6.73, learn to anticipate this breakout pattern

if i do my job correctly, u eventually wont need my trading alerts cuz u’ll see them coming from a mile away…as i called this EXACT action in my premarket watchlist saying:
“MNLU keeps going, clear and defined breakout at $6, watch it soooooo closely, probly my favorite breakout play as it could really pop 50 cents-$1/share within a few minutes/hours”
all u gotta do is focus on these key breakout/breakdown points–what works best for me is either at or near the open or going into the market close in the afternoon

1st alert:

$6 this morning was the ideal breakout, but now its taking out day highs too at 6.37, i want a strong close, gap higher tomorrow and ideally a morning spike too above $7…thats my goal anyway, seemingly limited downside, especially going into the market close

2nd alert:

this is the gift/curse with OTCBB stocks, they move faaaast so u gotta be prepared to enter and exit at all times…and use limit orders…always (i had a blog post a while back about this)…..my initial goal was $7, but i thought that might happen gradually going into the close/gap higher tomorrow but when i got halfway to my goal within 15 minutes, i gotta take my profits….probly still gonna close strong and gap higher, especially since there are seemingly solid bidders in the 6.50, 6.55 range–as most of my picks i’m early on: see ERII, CNEH and latest IDAE —but i take my profits and move on

End result, my exit was premature, again, stock went up to $7.15ish, 12% gain from my alert, some TIMalert testimonials:

I just sold at 6.90 for a net gain of $180 which more than covered the cost of this first month of
alerts. The trade can also be verified on Covestor (AdamN)
-Adam

New to the TIMalerts but similar success! Got in MNLU at 6.70 yesterday and got out during today’s final rush at 7.10. Subscription is paid off with a little gravy on the side! Profit of $298. Thanks Tim!

-Steven

July 21st: shorted 1,000 Zynex Inc. (ZYXI) at 3.18

missed the morning dump–thinkorswim’s fault (borrowed 2,000 shares, chat guy only entered order for 200, stock dove while i was chatting with them to correct it), probly better as nobody wouldve gotten in on that dump, it was just too fast, shorted 1,000 shares here at 3.18, very tiny position cuz there’s no guarantee it’ll finish red today…odds are good though, this could be a multi day fade a la GETG, so my goal is the 2.75 area, gonna be interesting as this isnt the ideal pattern, its just a variation

July 22nd: out of ZYXI for 5% profit, mistimed it all

i didnt expect it to drop so fast so i didnt have my thinkorswim order window open when it was 2.81 x 2.85, put my order to buy to cover (as my original target exit was 2.75ish and there looked to be buyers at 2.75 and 2.80 aka don’t force it), but i was late and on these OTCBBs, you gotta be early if you wanna exit…so i covered at like 7 different spots (all just 1 order) all around $3…not an ideal trade–missed the first morning panic, mistimed this latest one–but still a decent profit and a nice profit for u subscribers too…by no means which you have to cover, i just have limited capital and the patience of a wall streeter in a leverage factory so i’m out for y usual 5%ish profit…good that i know how to pick good setups, sad i’m such a bad timer man, really sad

End result, stock continued to downtrend back to $2.80, 12% gain from my alert, I played it too safe…some TIM testimonials:

$337 profit after commissions
-Reaper (aka Michael Goode—remember his TIMalerts track record HERE)

Mistimed ZYXI also. Still made profit of $210 after commissions.
-Kusumo

July 22nd: shorted 1500 Mechanical Technology Inc. (MKTY) at 4.27ish, not as safe these other shorts

glad i sent out the alert to reserve shares to short 15 minutes before i traded it cuz a few of u have email that u got shares!

still hasnt taken out the key 10k buy block at 4.25, but volume has slowed and big sell blocks are coming in on the ask…mike the 13th says he thinks he saw it on promo-ed on qualitystocks.net, still no confirmation thats the case, gotta love the longterm downtrending chart, just gotta have patience for these bitter shareholder to sell when they realize its already tripled off its lows on no news…that said, its dangerous to short mid-day, i just went in cuz i didnt know how fast the 4.25 buy block would disappear, gets me every time, i think these things can just collapse and i gotta realize that when they’re still green ont eh day, the momentum still favors ridiculous upside…so i admit, this is a risky short here, i might have to suck up a big loss, but if it takes out 4.25, i might find myself covering for a quick 50 cents/share of $750…just gotta wait and see

July 22nd: out of MKTY at $4.10, another 5% profit, sucks

just don’t like the way its holding up here and i’ve got an interview and a meeting this afternoon…these are the risks of part-time trading…made another few hundred bucks, but pretty disappointed there are so many big buy blocks, if it holds $4 (which used to be resistance), then thats a very bullish sign it’ll test bigtime resistance at $5….i just cant risk it…although methinks the odds still favor a short here (espeically since buying volume has gotten nowhere and now theres a big 10k sell bloc at $4.27…who knows, its a confirmed pump from this site: http://www.lowfloattrades.com/ so its gonna fade eventually, $4 is such a key now, really gotta take it out on the downside
congrats to those who also had more patience on ZYXI, went all the way down to $2.80 for a while so i basicaly left $400 in profits ont he table…welcome to my life, i take small mistimed gains….it could be worse…especially considering now i’ like 16 for 16 or 17 for 17 on TIMalerts

End result: finally, I was right on for playing it safe, even though I only made 5%, those who stubbornly held even as the price action suggested squeezing are now down 10% as this one is squeezing higher…I wasn’t the only one to exit unscathed, not coincidentally 2 PennyStocking DVD students also saw what I saw:

I got scared and got out. +$53 woohoo lunch money!
-Reaper

I am out of MKTY, $100 profit

Noooooo Timmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! You revealed my true identity! Now I have to get a new nickname … anyway, haven’t done too well recently. My total profit since signing up for TimALERTs is $3481.06. Just wait ’till we start playing some liquid Naz stocks and I can start taking larger positions.

Anybody else still short on zyxi, 1500 shares short here, looks like a textbook reversal to me, first day down, cloud candlestick pattern, what else can we ask four…. well That I have been faster executing my short at around $ 3.05 instead of my “last guy panicking” short at the morning panic of 2.82.

WSCI didn’t work for me this morning, but it hadn;t run as much as this sucker. I have 500 shares of mkty ready to short (500 shares long on tos and 500 shares long on IB, so I just need to sell my long position and I’ll be net short, which I will only do after proven weakness)

I shorted MKTY at close $4.90 holding it o/n. Just to let you guys know no more MKTY shares available to reserve tomorrow, the broker said to me on the phone. Will see how it pays off.

millionaire, I am short on one account and lon in other to compensate, didn;t short because for me it was a hell of a strong close. May gap up tomorrow, hope you don’t blog tomorrow as ex millionaire, I had my share of pain today with parl and wsci not working as expected.

  5. 5getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 4:57 pm

Millionaire, since like you may be making a killing tomorrow morning, mkty trading at 4.26 after hours even though on just 1400 volume, hope it is not just tape painting.

Anyway, what was your logic to short to such a strong close on strong volume? Just because it couldn’t hold over $ 5?

Trying to learn your reason, for me it may gap up tomorrow.

Tim, if you are reading this, whats your take on this close?

    July 22nd, 2008 at 5:00 pm

shorty, I don’t see that 4.26 trade on my T&S. Where do you see that trade? I still show 4.90 w/ the last trade for 750 shares at 15:58.

  7. 7getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 5:01 pm

It shows on finance.yahoo and on bigcharts.com but may as well be tape painting.

    July 22nd, 2008 at 5:07 pm

FWIW, here’s what I see. Must be tape painting or a settlement trade.

haha funny people caring about 1 stupid afterhours trade, its not even a question MKTY gap higher tomorrow, question is how much will it pike before it crashes…same friggin pattern everytime, today was only the 2nd day of the runup

  10. 10getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 5:18 pm

I have no clue why it appears on Bigcharts and yahoo then, if somebody knows better let us know.

    http://bigcharts.marketwatch.c.....&freq=

Guess my approach of waiting on the sidelines with shares ready to short is right after all, even if it doesn’t work, shorting to that strenght would keep me up all night.

I am short 1500 shares of zyxi, but even if I loose on that one, I know I did a high probability play. following a reversal pattern.

  11. 11getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 5:34 pm

That’s what I thought, I am pretty comfortable with my neutral but shortable position, maybe will short tomorrow, maybe the day after. Too bad I hadn’t had the balls to buy some for the morning gap.

What’s your take on tomorrow ZYXI behavior Tim, very little chance of a spike if I had been reading this one right. 1500 shares short here

  12. 12YngvaiMalmsteve

    July 22nd, 2008 at 6:21 pm

I wouldn’t say a gap-up is guaranteed on MKTY. Look at what happened to MWY. Finished very strong yesterday into the close, only to open lower today. And it didn’t run up nearly as much as MKTY did.

In fact, their intra-day patterns are similar. MWY had a big morning spike, leveled off most the of the day, only to squeeze higher into the close, then be down after-hours. MKTY did the same thing today.

  13. 13getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Dead on Yngvai, looks exactly the same, then, when you consider it is safe to bet on a gap up for a stock?, looks like MWY had it all, now looks like it is reversing (doji candlestick)

  14. 14timothysykes

    July 22nd, 2008 at 7:43 pm

except the 2 are up for different reasons and that MKTY is only a 20mil company here whereas MWY is closers to 20x that! fact: smaller pumps can go exponentially further, especially when sucking in stubborn newbie shorts

  15. 15YngvaiMalmsteve

    July 22nd, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Getshorty, I’m not saying shorting MKTY into the close is safe at all. It’s VERY risky. I’m just saying a gap-up isn’t guaranteed. Tim is right that MKTY is riskier…it’s a low-floater like PDO or MXC, although those were tied to the increasing oil prices. MKTY had a reverse split not too long ago which dramatically tightened up the float.

  16. 16getshorty

    July 22nd, 2008 at 10:06 pm

Thanks Yngvai, don’t worry, I wouldn’t dare to short that beast at that kind of close. Was looking for how to spot a stock that can go up, in order to go long. Thanks Tim and Yngvai.

Mike, if you were somebody else I would say that you are nuts for shorting that crazy horse on its way up and keeping it up after that stong close, but given the fact that I respect you because of your great track record, I’ve got got to step and aks : Why? Did pride got on your way, or have you seen something on it that I haven’t. Either way best of luckys.

Sweeney, tomorrow is pay day !!!!

I suppose my question would be is anyone seriously LONG on MKTY and if so why?

  23. 23getshorty

    July 23rd, 2008 at 3:05 am

    WSCI, zyxi and mkty

I am trying to go back on my trades in order to make sure I knew why I went into a trade. One mistake I have realized today is that I have been treating all the stocks in this post as if they were pure pumps and dumps. Tim makes a good point on posting 21 (above) that 2 companies with very similar patterns can behave very differently cause companies with real companies are subject to regular physics, while companies with no real business are subject only to supply and demand.

Now I am checking before entering a trade if the company has some real business going on, I just checked wsci and realized that it actually has a p/e ratio of 26 and sales are growing 28% year over year, aka as they are actually selling something. Why has this company kind of behaving like a pump and dump? just becauseit has been wildly promoted?

I have just checked Zyxi and realized that it also have a p/e ratio of 26 and respectable year over year gro in sales of 180%. So I guess the case is the same, as wsci, real company with big promotion, aka will behave as pump and dump but not as fast. That said, I am not as comfortable now with my overnight short since the risk/reward is not that great aka not holdovernight you stupid adrenaline junkie.

Am i getting this right? real businesses, when hyped behave as pumps and dumps but not as fast?

Now mkty looks like a real piece of crap, no earnings declining sales and stock growing like crazy on hype only, this looks more like it, good I will be able to short 500 shares when it starts declining. Feel more comfortable with this one.

Corrections to my above appreciations are greatly appreciated and even encouraged.

    July 23rd, 2008 at 3:35 am

Manhack, I am not long mkty but at this point I wish I was, because there are very strong chances that it gaps up tomorrow morning after the strong close on strong volume of Today. Even everybody knows it will reverse within the next few days , looks like it will do the trick for long quick flippers tomorrow morning.

  25. 25manhack

    July 23rd, 2008 at 3:50 am

Yeah, wish I was long MKTY and LCC this morning.

Meanwhile I’m still holding CEGE long. Hope to jump out with some lunch money.

Ivegotstylekid, looks like a breakout, if you decide to go low just remeber to put a stop-sell order a little bit under may 2nd high of 8.9 which looks like support here, if it breaks that level, it may go down to 7.5 . Good risk reward apparently. Remember that this is a real company with real plane over your head, so most probably wont go supernova. Even though looks like a good risk reward (upside…. you guess, downside $0.43)
