12 Stocks Whose Setups Are Just Getting Started…Patience Young Skywalker

Tags: Hot Stocks, Potential Plays

No positions, jut watching, lots of decent setups forming, just gotta be patient, then aim small, miss small…the same thing we do every day Pinky:

ZYXI is continuing its run on a good sales report form July 3rd…let it run, reserve shares every day just in case it begins to fade as it’ll be a good quick fader…eventually

MNLU is a continuation breakout, TIMalert subscribers got in in the mid $6s…already some nice testimonials and methinks short sellers are screwed this morning…probly too illiquid to enter now though, can’t wait for it to go up too much so I can short it!

LBAS is also illiquid, but it’s about to breakout for the 4483rd time, where it stops nobody knows, MXFD went into the $20s

CRIS kept the breakout alive, but its $-gain made people watching it feel like they were dead. No thanks, next!

IDAE dropped a bit…as I was warning for 2 days…I’ll have a detailed post on this one and MNLU later

ETLO just keeps going on pathetic volume…it will crash one day, give it time

UBHI now has confirmed vertical price action, it will end, but these things can go on for a little while, it’s a waiting game

RAD now has financing, is trying to bottom, no resistance until $2 it’s only then I might consider a short

GGR is up like 80% off its lows, but the rise is gradual, perhaps will soon be a good short for those with patience

ZIXI is far and away one of the worst Nasdaq companies around, it should always be viewed as a potential short on spikes, but, they did get a law passed, maybe it can squeeze some long term shorts

BXC is an earnings play, avoid shorting, let Mike and his hyenas buy it up

ESC is another poorly managed company, unfortunately not up enough off its lows to really interest me…yet

Hey, finally signed up for timalerts! I want to change my email address that you send the alerts to. Can you send my current email address a confirmation so that I can reply with my address change request?

I am starting again at $2k. I want to try and show that someone even with a small amount of money can become successful.

I will be tracking all my trades from now on and hope to be able to add to your many success stories.

Bought TMR at $3.28 on what looks to me like a solid breakout w/ volume.

WHat’s with the gigm spike on the nba street license in china? Looks like a company with real earnings (a not that crazy 17 p/e ratio) why has it been behaving like a pumped a microcrap?

    Tim,

I jumped the gun and shorted FOUR @ 8.53 - only problem is it keeps going up with no end in sight. I’m on the fence as to whether to hold it in hopes it breaks down or to cut my losses and get out. Thoughts?

Put a limit order in to buy ZYXI for 1200 shares at $2.84 and bids started moving up like wild fire. Dang thang took off without me! Oh well, there will always be more trades in the future.

    July 17th, 2008 at 9:56 am

Yes, yes, you have. I will write “I will not short a stock that goes up every day” a thousand time. I hope I learn my lesson.

Lbas has had a nice run. Volume as you said is weak. It looks primed for news. Pick up now and sell into news (and pray its good)?

Short DEPO… stock is pumped by The Stockster and fails to breakout – easy to borrow 

  12. 12PCola

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:18 am

LAPaul, I don’t see anythign about that one on Stockster. Where are you getting that info?

  13. 13YoungGunz

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:19 am

I don’t have my own blog for now I’ll probably just post something in tim’s forums.

Just waiting for a confirmation email. I know you’re busy tim just excited to get your entertaining alerts.

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:20 am

Young Gunz, sign up for Covestor. Posting on Tim’s site afterwards is basically useless.

Shorty I bought yesterday after covering my short, thought it was just a sqeeze.Sold this AM for$$ made money up, down and up again. Good Luck To All

  16. 16YoungGunz

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:28 am

I know it is useless without some sort of auditing. I am basically trading part time. I don’t plan on getting any fanfare or what not. I am just an average Joe with a wife and kid making 50k a year in the midwest. If I can average $100 a week it will be a success and greatly improve my financial situation. I am looking at this as taking a small investment with the opportunity to have fun and make some decent money on the side.

  17. 17PCola

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:30 am

But what’s the harm in signing up with Covestor? Maybe you turn out to make a killing and people can then see all the trades you’ve made and not have to take your word for it.

  18. 18YoungGunz

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:33 am

Yeah, I was planning to sign up sooner or later. But since you insist and I am waiting for someone to show up to keep doing my job I’ll go do it now :)

    YoungGunz,

I just started a new account with $2k as well.
Prior to this I had a play/test account (first time trading, really small just $500) and I lost most of it with NTI (now NTIC) when it jumped from my short @14 all the way up to $20. Anyway, it was painful, but I think I learned my lesson.

I’ve been a quiet reader of Tim’s blog for a while now, and I’m finally ready to get my hands dirty. Signed up for TIMAlerts yesterday :D

Shorted the early gigm spike at 13.01, looks like a dead cat bounce to me.

Got a small long position on cris breakout, hope it was larger.

Waiting for mnlu to make up its mind.

pbks- provident bank, they just release their second quarter earning wiht a net income of 15 million this is higher then expected and the stock already went from 6 to 850 this morning i think this had the possibility to rise to 11 before the day is done. what do you guys think

  23. 23getshorty

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:52 am

I think you should stop playing earnings and concentrate on predictable charts instead of random reactions.

  24. 24pomalley

    July 17th, 2008 at 10:53 am

povident is starting to rise just hit 8 dollars per share get in before this thing moves

    July 17th, 2008 at 11:00 am

PBK = Downtrending chart with a spike waiting to be shorted once it starts to fade.

BUY IT? I’ll rather go to the casino 3 blocks from work and bet $5000 on the roulette, all in to red, same chaces and at least I may get lucky with the waitress.

  26. 26YoungGunz

    July 17th, 2008 at 11:01 am

earnings like that I don’t really see much movement after the initial gap up on the open. The price has pretty much started to reflect the earnings report. It could go up but it could go back down also when people start looking at it more and decide its still worth the same as it was before the report.

YoungGunz, if you dont mind post those trades here so we can follow this success story.

PCola: About DEPO: It was an email blast received on Monday 7/14. It tried to run up but is loosing steam

It attempted to breakout 3 times since January. And is forming a cup since end May. It failed to breakout for the 3rd time. It is trading at 4.10. If it fails again it could fall to 3.70, 3.40 and then 3ish

    Watch it closely :)

I will post them on here. Just got done signing up on covester aswell. Just waiting for access and confirmation from Timmaay to get on the TimAlerts page! he’s a busy guy though, can’t have an alerts entertainment service if you aren’t busy sniffing out all the micro-crap frauds.

How do you some of you guys get your email addresses on the mailing lists for stock spammer? I know its pretty easy to get your address passed around once you give one site your email and they sell their lists to everyone and their mother.

Out of Cris for a laughable gain of $36 after commissions, no convinced buyers there. Still short gigm for a $200ish gain so far. Leaving for work. Have a tigh stop in case this bitch changes its moody mind.

When you join ThinkorSwim what kind of commissions do you pay to short these penny stocks? Can you get the .015 per share deal or do you have to get the 9.95 to short these pennies?

I am in college and do not have a lot of money right so was wondering if I could follow this strategy by only shorting around $500 at a time or like 350 shares of a $1.42 stock and only pay $5 in commissions instead of $10.

What does that $5 min. mean? $5 stock or $5 in commissions?
