iPhone 3G Me This, iPhone 3G Me That, AAPL’s Breakout Attempt Goes Splat!
Posted by timothysykes on Mon 9th of Jun, 2008 08:04:59 PMiPhone 3G me this, iPhone 3G me that, who’s afraid of the big black truth? Over the next 48 hours, as you’re forced to digest thousands upon thousands of articles and blog posts about Apple Inc (Nasdaq: AAPL) Steve Jobs’ keynote today and the introduction of this much anticipated new product, the stock trader in you has to realize this has proven itself to be a non-event.

Sure, you could’ve scalped it for a few dollars either way—the stock was volatile—but the big breakout/breakdown didn’t occur. As I wrote a few weeks ago, during a time when no/few journalists were covering the potential/probable stock reaction—which just goes to show you how little talent these breaking-news-dependent-original-idea-and-anticipatory-skill-lacking-journalists actually possess—hence why you must learn to discard their opinions as if they were drunken sailors in a bar—unless AAPL broke $203, its all-time high, I wouldn’t be interested in buying this behemoth of cheerled stock. And since, this product just might be a giant success, aka AAPl isn’t a spammer, I wouldn’t short it here either.

Hence, 3G introduction is a non-event.

Were you not the one predicting a break-out?

Tim here’s my newest pick, supernova style. Built up on the new alternative energy bubble being blow up right before our eyes, this company takes the ride. Low float however, but what are your thoughts on shorting? Looks ripe to me? MMGW.OB
PS: What is that song in your SEC following me video, it kicks some butt!!
anonymous, learn to read, i said buy the stock only on a breakout, this was a potential catalyst for that…now its failed
enorck, no telling when mgw will stop, just like a million other junkie stocks…not sur eof the song, just found it on the internet somewhere under “following me”
Apple often gets slammed around the time of their public events. When the iPhone was released last June the stock took a dive too. I wouldn’t consider today’s selloff as a sign of a downtrend. For what it’s worth I personally would not feel comfortable selling it short right now, despite the lousy market.
“PS: What is that song in your SEC following me video, it kicks some butt!!”
I think it’s the musical version by DJLange but not sure but it’s got HOT CHICKS in the video so ‘tever.
Works for me!

Honestly, you’re a complete moron. If all you got from today’s events was 3G than you’re truly mentally incapable. The iphone is revolutionary in its 1st gen. This 2nd gen version takes things to a completely new level, partly with the hardware upgrade, partly with the incredibly aggressive pricing, but mostly with the App Store where the true capabilities of the device are yet to be seen. The stock is down today, but who cares… if you care about today’s stock price than you have no business investing in Apple stock. Apple/Jobs makes moves that pay off in the long run… just Google the stock and pull back the slider to 2003… I wouldn’t call that kind of performance flat. Get a life, and stop pretending you’re newsworthy.
LOL, do some DD dumbass, i’m not an investor, i’m a trader, i need volatility…3g can do whatever u want technologically, volatility-wise, it sux
Etrade mobile pro for Blackberry allows you to trade stocks while you drive. Now that’s useful technology.
Just got these as “pumps”.
First time I’ve used this service so don’t know if they’ve got the power to P and D but i’ll watch to see:
# Global Roaming Distribution, Inc. (GRDB.OB)
# Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB)
# Medefile International, Inc. (MDFI.OB)
# Mega Media Group, Inc. (MMDA.OB)
# Simtrol, Inc. (SMRL.OB)
# SkyPostal, Inc. (OMGA.OB)
Oh and got CPRK pump on Fri.
It has more than doubled over the last 4 days and has red candle now outta UBB so maybe a goodie short if you like shorting that low price.
you’re a trader not an investor eh? In other words - not enough talent to make money long term. Well maybe you should rephrase the title of your post… Apple didn’t attempt a breakout, Apple achieved a check mate against any competitors.
13th…how’d you do today? My short of VQ today went very well for me.
2cents…Tim has tons of talent and he’s a veteran trader, not a boring value investor like yourself. Explore his website and learn. Tim makes his money through the “pump and dumps.” He’s pretty good at it because his last “pump and dump” was your mom. Just my 2cents…
I gotta agree with Anonymous and 2cents. Timothy you do well with spam stocks, Big Boys are still out of your league. Please learn to take criticism if you want to be some where in your life.
i like taking critcism poorly, i just don’t give a f#@!, i’m immature and i don’t want to hide it…cuz then i wouldnt be brutally honest…understand?
Who gives a crap about apple. If i hear another take on apple I am going to throw up. I golfed with someone today who said he bought his frist stock in yrs on thursday and it was apple. the only reason he bought it was the media hype. he was telling me this is a can’t miss before the release of the 3g. the money has already been made on apple so lets please move on and not talk about this damn company again.
2cents, “investing” doesn’t work for people with small accounts. What’s the most you can make on a small account by investing? 10% per year? 20%? 30% at most? Big deal. There are people here making those type of returns in months, weeks, or even days.
2cents, I don’t think you are OTCBB-worthy. Time to go to the sub-penny pink-sheets where you belong, quarter-cent.
LGDI looks like it might be coming back into play
Guys, fellas, fellow short-sellas,
Yes, PARL is an earnings play, but here are facts about the company:
1.) Parlux licenses and sells celebrity name-branded fragrances.
2.) Parlux is just coming out of a ‘restructuring’ stage
Here’s the chart:
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=parl
Tim and company advise to wait for red or signs of weakness before shorting. PARL showed red today and faded in volume from 1 mil traded yesterday to 200K traded today. Given macro-market conditions, this company has a long way to consistently making a profit year after year. PARL is a clear and ripe SHORT SELL after making a run-up of +44% in one day. Are you in or are you out?
The hell with Apple, too much buying power.
I’m still at job training but running remote shorts.
As I walk through the valley of picks, I put to rest these for monday;
nti 100 shares in 19.00 cover 17.84
odp 250 shares in 12.38 cover 12.09
sino 88 shares in 13.15 cover 12.37
257.14 profit minus fees
Not bad for being at work and not knowing what the hell is going on.
Thanks Tim!!!!!!!
Yes, I agree. Apple is worthless for anything but a nice scalp if it doesn’t break out of the 175/203 box, and I’m not shorting it.
To all the vets on this site that contribute priceless info, thank you.
The strategy of shorting is a beautiful thing. The more I seek the more I find.

Macs #2, Macs #2, Macs #2″
I don’t know how they thought otherwise, with their, what, 3% market share?
