Why Geek Commentary Should Never Be Featured On Any Finance Website

Tags: Blogging, Financial Media Circus, idiots

You gotta laugh at/love absolutely pointless opinionated articles like THIS from the geek blog AllThingsD, which, in this case, stands for “All Things Drossy”.

Not pointless to all the newbie investors and technology geeks who think this crap actually matters to these companies’ stock prices—for they have little understanding of the brokerage/ANALyst whore-athon that gets pimped out to fund managers just trying to pad their performance figures to collect their annual six and seven-figure salaries without really caring about beating the indexes cuz they know that since their peers are just as scummy as them, they really only have to avoid blowing up cuz mediocrity is not only fine, it’s encouraged in this joke of an industry, trend lag times and investors expectations—just pointless to everyone who understands how difficult assessing these companies without technical analysis really is.

Yup, that’s right, the stock prices of Apple Inc. (AAPL), Dell Inc. (DELL), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), News Corporation (NWS), Time Warner Inc. (TWX) are influenced by thousands of variables, and the ones discussed in the above article are amazingly close to last. In fact, it’d probly be better to short sell geek articles—geek and dumps!

Sure, I might only be a penny stock day trader, so I’m not the right guy for the job either, but I’ve got a big cynical Jewish nose that can smell BS a mile away. Grow up Yahoo!—and everyone else for that matter—don’t feature geeks so much, you’re giving stock market commentary a bad name.

I had held ROYL overnight and then by the time I awoke I gave back 78 bucks in gains.

Loss on the OMNI trade cause I got too greedy. 30 bucks and down about 90 bucks on my SINO trade. Got in it for a bounce but no such luck.

how is it that a broker will have short shares of a stock that has a volume of 130k and none for one that has volume of 4.7 million?

nice moates, see how much more fun it is to short into weakness no ACOR!) and not so sure about SQNM

  12. 12JeffMoates

    June 4th, 2008 at 5:08 pm

That’s why its only 1000 shares. I agreed with whoever posted the info about SQNM that the PR about their drug confirmation is meek at best. I entered this trade fully expecting to hold for 3-4 days. I hope it peters $0.25/day. That’s a good goal.

    No more ACOR’s…promise.

I’ve got more reading to do. I rode the GRO train all day. Rookie mistake. I got up at 6:00PDT this morning so I could watch GRO spike, but then I didn’t cash in.

Still in for GRO and long on SINO as well. Down $32 on my small account.

Impressive Tony, hope I can join you at the over 25k club soon.

What the hek is going on with HEK? Just superpump… I mean… Superman or is it something else out there, don;t wan’t to do the stupid mistake I did yesterday of shorting ACOR on test result. If nothing shows up will shor HEK on first down day.

    today made $200 on gro,
lost $ 100 on cred (short at 16.50 and covered at 17.50)
made $ 50 on ACOR (plain luck, stupid move)
made $ 500 in canadian $ (dropping along with oil)
Still short 200 shares in cred, 200 on fpp and 300 nti
with oil not going anywhere but down and getting all the headings about enough supply and dropping demand (both us and foreign as asia drops subsidies on gas) Pumpers are running out of gas.

    Good day after all.

Tony, I gotta learn to focus on the long side as well so I can meet you faster over $ 50.

“Tim SOLI was a pump,I know that it was and tried shorting it all day but couldn’t get shares,it fell nasty around 3 p.m
Jason Fuller pump PTPE I shorted at .70 yesterday,it didn’t even take 1 day to die!

Looks like a repump on bio ( you’ll get the) shaft BSHF and the ever famous My Vintage (Baby you’ll get destroyed ) MVBY.
I know MVBY too low for you but traded tight spread today and IB has shorts available calling to me.

I know SOIS is oil/gas play but from .78 to 1.24 in 3 days looks tempting on sign of red

Anybody catch SOLI today the super pump!
It opened a tad up then got polesmoked late in the day actually hit .82!
    Closed down 39%
    Pump emailers keep spamming me:)

And BSHF worked out great to.
It was going along nicely up a few % until very late around 3:30 when the dump hit closing down 9% at it’s lod’s

MVBY,keep pumping up,get it 1 pleazzze, the P and D in Nov was sweet, come on you can do it again.
    Closed up another 34% today.

SOIS is still moving,4 days now from .78 to 1.37
The volume last 3 days crushes any volume it has ever in the last 52 weeks.

    Love this stuff!

Tim,nice heads on the OMNI call.
Before I read your post I had said almost the EXACT same words you used:

“OMNI Energy Service Corp. (OMNI) was and always has been a great short whenever it spikes, just let it do its thing as it’ll inevitably come back down cuz the company is craaaaaaaaap”

Got the short from 6.72 to 6.15

Looking at PTEK BIOF ( heard it was a pump, not sure )tomorrow for red also to short/green go long.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    PTEK was so fine.
Opened at $4, hit hod of 6.30
Anyone following along or just trading the ROYL’s and GRO’s, there’s a bunch of stocks to make money on either long or short.
Do your homework you can find ‘em if you know what to look for and practice at it.
