9 Stocks On Fire: So Many Plays That Are Surprisingly Borrowable To Short!

Tags: Hot Stocks, Potential Plays, Story Stocks, Supernovas

Plenty of stocks in play and surprisingly plenty of borrows today too! Only thing stopping me from reserving shares in every stock I want is my damn limited buying power! So, after being very selective, I’ve reserved 500 shares of CNEX, 2000 of FPP. Also got UQM and SSBX shares but I can’t have my orders working cuz of my tiny account. Wow, I’m down here at $18k voluntarily, I can always unleash $500,000 or so amongst all these stocks, but you guys, damn, how do you live? I mean seriously, how do you live?

Basically I’m still watching everything from yesterday’s watchlist and a few more/some updated below:

QTWW could/should breakout hardcore, but given that we’re talking maybe 20-25 cents of upside here, I can’t waste any precious trades/buying power on it…sucks!

Those of you looking to short PDO and MXC so quickly are just idiots. These things have broken out nicely and are squeezing the shorts and since their connected to oil prices, there’s no telling how high they’ll go. Remember how I said I don’t like commodity plays, that they’re not your typical pump and dumps? Again, I haven’t been in the game for this long and not learned a thing or two.

That said I am considering an FPP short cuz it’s much more low priced and extended here…but it’s gonna have to show me some perfect big ass morning spiking/afternoon fading action to make me execute a short on this one.

CNEX and BPTH are the two current Supernovas, both destined to fail…question is when. CNEX had trouble yesterday afternoon, but still finished solidly higher, even if there was a slight decrease in volume. After 5 pumping articles on Monday, 2 yesterday and only 1 so far today, this is clearly getting tired. Today’s choice of patterns are: big morning spike (good to short into), morning gap followed by sideways price action and an afternoon fade (ideal to short into!), a morning panic (tough to short into) followed by a rebound (good to short after a while if it seems to be failing) which may or may not fail or another gradual up day that annoys the shorts. I’ll be watching closely.

BPTH it doesn’t matter what I think cuz there are absolutely zero shares available to short, probly for the best considering anemic volume and a typical 50 cent price spread

SSBX
is a friggin’ finance play, not your typical pump and dump, aka don’t be too aggressive, probly only good for scalping.

KRY is facing the third day of a major runup, it’s gonna be tough to finish green.

UQM is a junkie company promising big things, classic classic classic amateurs are thinking “they’ve got an interesting technology, maybe I’ll buy some”-type play, always something shady going on in the background, not worth my time to dig as I don’t even have enough buying power to keep my short order working…doesn’t mean you can’t though.

    May 14th, 2008 at 10:42 am

USU looks niiiiice….still could run a bit…using any indicators on your chart (overbought/oversold, cci, etc?)? I’m watching KRY trying to emerge from it’s 6 month dive…

    May 14th, 2008 at 10:46 am

SSBX looks likes its resting for now, thoughts/predictions on up or down move everyone? Same sorta six month pattern as KRY…crow trying to breakout.

can’t find any pump action on usu, someone has to know something, think LACO good short right now, inside buyer on Monday, now getting back to reality, could drop a buck

Tim, I know you’ve said you like to look for short opps on the third day of a run-up, but does that also apply to any three periods of run-ups followed by consolidation?

I’m looking at BHBC, and if it follows yesterday’s pattern, then there is absolutely no chance of a short today..

  12. 62Davey

    May 14th, 2008 at 10:53 am

If FPP can get near its high today, that should be in play, looks like it could spike, but other than that or CNEX spiking again there isn’t much.

The only thing that I see which has been recommended by Tim is KYUS.

    May 14th, 2008 at 10:56 am

bob, thats an earnings play, avoid.

u guys gotta understand all patterns are not the the same! u dont just short into any stock running up. i dont have the patience to keep repeating this, seriously please make my life easier and get my damn dvd, there’s a reason i created it–to explain simple concepts like this! otherwise i’m just gonna snap

  17. 67YngvaiMalmsteve

No short plays for me today. No buying power after buying CIMT and CHLN

  18. 68timothysykes

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:07 am

BTB: cent is an earnings play, avoid

Yngvai: why short either of those you’re begging to get squeezed.

both of u refer to comment #63

I haven’t posted in a while, but to the morons who critiqued my WM short, i told you GS was going to pull the rug, and keep bitching about Tim’s strats, check back to my WM post from 11.75 and 12.
So far this is how things worked for me.

    WM Short 11.75, 12.56, cover 10 (78,000 Profit)
    EDEN Short 2.5 cover 1.97 (2650 Profit)
    VM Short 4.8 cover 3 (36,000 Profit)
    VRML Short 4.85, 4.90,5, 3.66,
    cover 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 ,2.6
    (98,000 Profit)
    CNEX Short 7.10 cover 4 avg,(21,000 Profit)

Yup, Tim’s strategies are a complete failure. Too bad everyone’s making so much damn money from it…like a broken slot machine.
    Donation comming!!!

Can someone answer my question about TOS? Will I have problems borrowing shares with an account of $2500-3000 starting off?

  22. 72YngvaiMalmsteve

Hey GSCH, are you with TOS?

    TIM,

I have your DVD. I am giving you page views, you are doing my stock research for me. We have a good deal going. :-)

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:25 am

Earnings is coming for CIMT on May 19th or 20th. Last time, they had a huge run-up into earnings (look at the chart for February). Yeah, the volume sucks, but there’s not much downside to doing this play and a lot of potential upside which is why I chose it

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:30 am

Guys I just reserved 150 shares of KYUS, I figure there is more left, just a heads up if you wanna grab them.

You have to reserve new lots everyday right?

  29. 79Jeff C

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:31 am

Not ballsy enough to play NYNY or CPSL…what goes up can be scalped down…I’m still sticking to rules and watching KRY like a hawk.

  30. 80Davey

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:37 am

Wes…Yea you have to reserve shares everyday, they are not carried over.

Nice patience being shown by your teacher automotons. “Buy my damn DVD”. Nice. Either that or you are all a bunch of morons, either way recipe for disaster. I love the one guy who says he opened a 3K account and that times were tight. Smart, you’ll last maybe a week or two

  32. 82Goose

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:41 am

    Why short KYUS?

  33. 83burky

    May 14th, 2008 at 11:41 am

Fantom - I started a TOS account (Canadian but I assume little difference) with ~ $1900 and I’ve had no issue shorting.

    Tim,

Looks like SSBX is the only one acting accordingly (too bad it’s a finance play). If you’re still :( about CNEX, watch this:

  41. 91Matt

    May 14th, 2008 at 12:41 pm

About CNEX - if you look at the volume, the pumping is mainly large blocks bought/sold right at the opening of the market (7th, 8th, 12th, 13th and today). If CNEX is going to get pumped/dumped again, pay special attention to it at 9am.

That pattern of the stock being pumped/dumped right at the open might be because the pumpers (singapore and Thai according to an earlier poster) are 12 hours off - they are putting their orders in early in the morning (our morning, their afternoon) for execution later.

If someone finds out those asian promoters are working a stock again it would be good to remember that pattern.
