We Are The Three Amigos: 3 Natural Gas Plays & Some Other Banditos

Posted by timothysykes on Thu 24th of Apr, 2008 08:34:30 AM

(MXC) The fist of 3 spiking AMEX microcrap nattie gas amigos with under a dozen employees…you wanna talk about the worst companies out there, well, here you go, hardly any business at all…but that won’t stop them from spiking because nattie gas has been soaring and people loveeeee speculating on these POS…couldn’t find any shares to short, too bad…

(PDO) The 2nd of 3 amigos, recognize this chart pattern? I’m short 700 shares @$6.20 because it faded gradually into the market close yesterday and I’m looking for it to take out stop losses at $6, so I can cover in the $5.60-$5.80 area…it’s a small position because I truly hate these AMEX commodity plays, you remember how KOG went!

(FPP) The 3rd nattie gas amigo, not really up or down enough to get e interested, although this spike is strikingly similar to the one a few weeks back and that time it faded 30% so I’m watching…

(ASIA) Pre-market right up to the key potential breakout zone just above $13, people seem to like earnings—I don’t know why, a Chinese company growing at 16% seems rather pathetic to me, but that’s just me…I might buy if it can breakout on high volume

(ICO) Reported missed on earnings, getting slammed, I don’t regret not playing it, I had no edge, maybe 60/40 odds favoring a short, but not good enough for me

(LNG) Bouncing falling knife play, who knows how far it bounces, not my kind of play, but maybe if it bounces enough quickly enough

(LVLT) A real company with a low priced stock making a big move—whaaaaaaaaat?!?! It’s an earnings move, not shortable, actually might be a decent buy if it consolidates well

(S) Another popular news-related real company mover, not really for me unless we get a 2-4 day spike

(UFPT) Nice second red day after near-vertical action—coulda woulda shoulda? Nahhh, sure, it was a nice afternoon fade into the first negative day, but that would’ve only yielded 50 cents/share—ideally—not really worth my time

  2. yah huge spread too, nobody wants it that bad

  3. Gotta love LNG. That was my first short, back in 2005. Had no clue what I was doing and lost a bit of money. Ahh, the good old days.

  4. Good morning everybody

  5. Tim, you were right about OSTK. No one cares about accounting scandals until they start hemmoraging cash.

  6. Nice drop on PDO to 6.01

  7. http://www.citronresearch.com/.....mit=Search

pretty interesting even though its old. but this is what tim really tries to stress out. all this bullship stock promoters.

  8. how come i cant post any links?

  9. VISN is off to the races

  10. whats the news on LVLT?

  11. jab can u not read the post above?

  12. just got a call for a big interview, covered PDO at 6.15, have fun guys, looking good now

  13. Can you say who it’s with?

  14. Covered PDO at 5.97 tried to cover in the 5.80s but it was too illiquid

  15. FEED and TITN down big rite now, unfortunately, I have no position on any

  16. MXC looks like a great short, had no problem short shorting 50 tiny shares (I have lost soooo much money in the past that I am first putting my toe in the water to test how this crap shorting strategy works out for me), think you should open an interactive brokers account on the side, looks like it has more short stocks available than your trader

  17. I don’t see any particularly great reason to short MXC right now

what are your thoughts on this? looks like decent support @ 7

  18. UNS on watch for short

  19. I’m watching for a squeeze first this could test $34-35 but watching it for now

  20. hope u pdo’s covered

  21. Wow huge spike in PDO good thing I covered at 5.97

  22. LOL that was you guys getting squeezed

  23. its very thin you have to be careful with it

  24. cool just finished a great interview, hopefully will be out in a few days, just in time for the new site

see PDO spiking, makes me feel better about exiting early. i doubt anyone here was squeezed, plenty of time for solid profits at $6, let’s hear how u guys did

  25. UNS does look nice thanks

  26. I am watching for possible short on RIV just dont like the crap average volume

  27. PDO……whoa!

  28. Shorted gap open on MF friday @ 13.75 covered this morning @ 12.27 for a nice profit. Just went long @ 12.55 looking for 12.85 then 13.20. hopefully we see gap open in the morning

  29. LSI up big despite bad earnings put it on your watchlist

  30. incorrect bdog, the market says it’s good earnings, your opinion, my opinion–we’re all quite inconsequential, its about price action

  31. hmmm MF hit 12.85

  32. Tim I realize this isnt your type of chart pattern but everyone needs to have their own style of trading

  33. PDO @ 7.40

  34. Bah. I have this constant problem. when i buy, i sell waaay too early. but when i short, i cover waaaay too late. can’t make steady profit, just keep going up and down. weeird, i dont ahve a problem with taking small loss or tiny profit on buys but when i short, for some reason i get very greedy as i hold for bigger pay and end up getting kicked in the ass. bahhhh somebody come punch me in the face.

btw, im nto talkign about PDO, didnt play it but if i did i would be :’-(

  35. sure whatever works best for u!

  36. InvestorLive, Keith - what are your positions in UNS

  37. I dont have any just like the looks of a possible short Thanks to Investor

  38. Ju - good thing u didnt play it. I got raped. just when I was about to cover it hiked up big time.

  39. How does PDO look now for a short. Obviously wait until it looks like a turn around but is there any reason not to short it at such a high price?

  40. c;mon dude, it was the last post in which i talked about this very thing:

    http://www.timothysykes.com/20.....to-profit/

its not about what price u short these stocks into, its about the price action! do u have my DVD?

  41. I do not have your dvd yet. I am working on it. What I meant was there was another huge spike which is what you look for. So would this spike make you want to short it. I am new to this shorting game so please forgive me if its a dumb question.

  42. there are no dumb questions, i’m just an impatient prick. but yes, i dont short into random spikes, especially after all the weak hands that can take a stock lower are already out on this morning’s dip

  43. So based off of your previous post, after the initial spike and drop, you stay out of it? Thanks for your help.

  44. Is your mom still cleaning your apartment? PDO had a great earnings report on 3/31. IBD numbers #99 97 99. Damn you guys are good!

  45. nah my mom finally quit, sucks. pdo earnings are crap–again not based on y opinion–which doesnt matter-but based on its price action…ibd doesnt matter either

  46. Glad I dont use stop losses One minute MF is at 12.87 i make a toilet run come back and slam stock trades down to 12.31 takes out crap load of stops and bounces like a ball and now @ 13.00

  47. MF hit my 13.20 now I guess 13.45

  48. Investor here goes UNS maybe

  49. I’m just a newb, but has anyone been checking out SDA? It was really pathetic until just recently and then it spiked, looks like it’s coming back down?

  50. Oh nevermind, it’s too expensive and I didn’t look at it’s extensive history :P
