Eye Opening Data: PennyStocking Isn’t Only For Day Traders

Tags: Adapting, DVD, Patience

You know how I’m saying on this blog, in my PennyStocking DVD, on LiveStock, basically everywhere, “you can do better than me, my timing usually stinks”? (latest proof is me selling IDAE today for a $600+ profit at $2.49, only to see it close higher, seemingly on its way to $3 (detailed blog post coming))

Well, thanks to one of my readers for posting THIS table of how you would’ve fared if you entered the stocks I traded in June and simply held them longer. I have the patience of a mouse in a cheese factory so no matter my 14% June return, check out how much more these stocks moved in the direction I played them, whether long or short:

I went back to Tim’s June trades and did a “Where are they now?” to check the ideal return you could have gotten given Tim’s entry price, if you would have held on longer (sometimes a month longer). I know this doesn’t follow Tim’s strategy but I thought it was fun to see what happened to these stocks afterward. For the most part they continued much further in the direction Tim played them, with HYHY being the only really dangerous one, a long play that turned sour -45%.

Stock — Ideal return after Tim’s exit
CNEH — 23%
URRE — 45%
PINN — 19%
HYHY — 16%
TGC — 120%
STXX — 65%
PTEK — 40%
GRO — 50%
NTI — 31%

Given Tim’s entry price, you could have gotten a

How I Predicted a 15% Stock Spike, Screwed It Up A Bit & Made TIMalert Subscribers $10,000+

When I sent out a buy alert on CNEH to TIMalert subscribers at 3:30PM last Friday—after personally buying 1,500 shares at $4.60—I told everyone “I fully expect $5+” because as I wrote in THIS post over the weekend, it really was the most perfect setup, technically and fundamentally, I’ve seen this year. No matter that TMK labeled me a pumper (and then changed his blog post later once I was proven right, LOL kids…especially those who are too afraid to show their trades openly on Covestor…yeah I said it) and several people questioned whether the company was paying me for such a glowing review, I called it like I saw it (just like I always do) and as the stock gapped higher and spiked Monday morning all the way to $5.40ish before 11AM—that’s a 17% gain for you kids keeping track at home—I felt pride mixed in with some regret.

The regret was due to

10 TIMtv Videos To Help Your Trading Addiction

That’s right kiddos, it’s time again to curtail your trading…and not in the sense where I’m gonna say “Stop Trading!” and give you 500 more tickers to watch. (Oh, snap!) Remember, when you’ve got a small account, you’re limited by Osama bin SEC and if there ain’t any truly great plays…like this CNEH breakout…it’s time for TIMtv!!!! Cuz you don’t wanna enter into stupid trades or scalps, trust me on that.

A few days ago I posted an awesome clip of Tiger Woods, today it’s time for old school Michael Jordan slam dunk contest footage

Important Message To All The Newbie Traders Here

Tags: Blogging, Patience, idiots

As I not only preached, but demonstrated in THIS post, those of us with small accounts should trade penny stocks with extreme caution. Due to the fact that Osama bin SEC’s terrorism means YOU must pick and choose your trades wisely…your psychology should be that of somebody who never wants to trade again (until the agony of not being in an ideal trade is too much), not somebody who can’t wait to trade again (overtrading causes losses).

More importantly, my website, TimothySykes.com is the ONLY place where you should feel free to ask questions and share your annoyingly newbie ideas and typical naivety. Other message boards like TheLion.com and Investorshub.com are for professional traders, while not admitting it publicly most of whom lose so they are rather grumpy and cranky. Some even bank a ton so they’re even crankier (mo money mo problems). Unlike me, they could care less about your education—it’s not their business to care and they have bills to pay and bottles to drain—so they don’t want to be bothered with your crap.

My Latest AOL Article: As Brocccoli Is To Your Health, Short Selling Is To Your Wealth

With the overall markets crumbling, the Dow trying desperately to keep from breaking its 2008 lows, I’m getting more and more emails from people getting all worked up trying to find a good stock in which to park their money. Considering I’m an opportunistic short seller who chastises investors for naively thinking they’re smart/lucky enough to pick one or more of the 50% of stocks that move higher each year (yup, 50% drop each and every year, your odds suck you friggin addicts), you regular readers know how amusing this is to me.

How To Be The Tiger Woods Of Trading

I often get asked how much time should you spend trading/researching? My answer is how badly do you want to win? The more time you spend researching, checking patterns, reviewing trades, reviewing others’ trades—yes, you might have to give up some video game, sports, TV, partying, girl/boyfriend time but sacrifices are necessary…hell I missed my college graduation for a great trade!—the more comfortable you’ll be in your trading because you’ll have seen similar patterns and trades before.

The more comfortable you are, the more time you’re willing to devote to this since you’re enjoying yourself more, the more trades, patterns and variables you see, the better you understand them all, the better you understand your own strengths and weaknesses the better odds you have on each trade, the more profitable you become.

Spending all day, every day, trading, is definitely not the way to get rich, but it will help you

17 Hot Energy Stocks aka Soon To Be Great Short Selling Plays

Tags: Breakouts, Hot Stocks, Patience, Patterns To Buy, Patterns To Short, Short Squeezes, So Hot Right Now, Supernovas

PennyStocking DVD students understand worthy trading opportunities only come about every so often—all the normal daily stuff is just too random/unpredictable—so by focusing on these few truly predictable situations, your profitability increases exponentially. If you can keep a cool head when everyone else is going crazy around you, this game gets much easier…that’s right, you 90% of trader losers out there, now is the time to try to recoup your horrific losses! (I’m talking to you, you sad little ETers)

I’ve been posting about PDO, MXC and FPP the past few days—even taking quick losses totaling $400 shorting FPP and MXC too early (wisely as it turned out, as those losses would now be pushing $5,000!! Uhh yeah $5k in gains from the long side, if I had any talent whatsoever doing that, which I don’t)—but only after we’ve gotten 3 strong up days are they prime for potentially predictable reversals, the extent of which we’ll have to wait and see…by now you guys should know the signs fo what to look for.

Since we’ll surely be missing them when they’re gone soon, I gotta link to every other site that’s featuring them HERE, HERE and HERE.

Don’t Short Sell Into Sideways Price Action Of Stocks That Are Still Up Big On The Day!

Tags: Patience, Patterns To Avoid, Short Selling, Short Squeezes

Lots of folks either have shorted or are thinking of shorting confirmed Supernova MXC here just above $40. Their reasoning—it cracked sideways price action, mistakenly believing it to be the kind of price action I always—or at least should always—look for before short selling one of these rocket ships.

WRONG!

My kind of sideways price action can NEVER occur when a stock like MXC is still up $13/share on the day, or on FPP yesterday when it was up $1.50/share, because the longs have no fear when their stocks are solidly up on the day and that opens to the door to potential end of the day and tomorrow morning at the market open short squeezes. Because they know lots of short sellers are salivating to short these things, just as they were on MXC at $15, $20, $25, $27 (me, but I covered quickly for a-now-proven-to-be-infinitely-wise 40 cent/share loss), and on FPP at $4 (me, covered again, wisely now it seems for a 20 cent/share loss) on and on….

This was written last night and I basically nailed all the top percentage gainers today….too bad AOL didn’t publish it until 1pm, but that’s what I get for submitting a 2am article on a Monday as it’s there busiest day…

Best/most useful quote form the article:

For now, let these kids play-some are even good to play form the long side, if you’re willing to take on that kind of risk (not me!). Call them in from recess-or short sell them-only when it begins to get dark outside

Ask just about anyone how our economy is doing and you’re likely to hear one or more of the following:

We’re in a recession! The stock market is crashing! Oil’s never gonna stop going up, we’ll always need more! Housing’s collapsing so people won’t be able to pay off their debts! Wall Street is laying off drones by the thousands!

Here’s a suggestion: Shut up you whiny little bitches.

Manipulation Monday: 12 Stocks That I Wish Were More Greatly Manipulated :(

Tags: Breakouts, Hot Stocks, Patience, Patterns To Buy, Potential Plays, Supernovas

Should I have stayed short KYUS over the weekend? I left because there might be trouble (weekend mailers?), but if I stayed it would be double (me a part of the potential short squeeze)…nah good decision to take profits…got my shares reserved to get back in today if it starts fadin’…lately spam stocks haven’t been collapsing like they should and I don’t have the capital to stick around…no I don’t, I’m just a no-class beat down fool and I will always be that way, I might as well enjoy my small gains and teach you readers to play!

UPDATE:
Damn I know these shady companies right, fearful of a large drop in price, they had a fluffy PR pre-market this morning, seriously, this game is that corrupt

XRM and ENT have both spiked quickly, but both had solid earnings reports so don’t be so quick to short them as they’ll probly only fade, not collapse like those that spike due to hype and paid-for promotion…and in the meantime they’ll squeeze naïve short sellers who don’t know the difference…oh yes not all chart patterns are not created equally, welcome to why PennyStocking is different from all other market niches, it’s corruption baby, when there’s no corruption, there’s less reversibility

CPSL had a bigtime earnings spike, with volume of 20mil shares…last time this happened was last September when it spiked from $4 to $12…those with balls bough late Friday for probable Monday morning gap, let’s see how far this one goes, remember patterns evolve and other than one quick dip last spike, it stayed up in the clouds for over a month…

MMGW is an illiquid sucker that after some nice low volume/hard to take advantage of for big profits from the short side consolidation is right back to its old highs…can it breakout?

Feel Good Friday: Nailing A Perfect Short Sale On Vermillion, Inc. (VRML)

Tags: Breakdowns, Patience, Patterns To Short, Short Selling, Supernovas

Was I bitter that a stupid mistake cost me between $750 and $1,000 in missed profits the first time VRML squeezed the shorts (as I posted helping other, not knowing I was already short!)? You bet I was! Was I going to let it influence my future trades on that stock or any other? Hell no!

So, after surging pretty much straight from $1 to $5, back down to $3 and then squeezing a few over confident shorts to $4 in a few days all on an ill-researched media story, on Wednesday, I posted how I shorted 1,300 VRML (all I could find) at $3.75, a little too early, but I was confident since I knew this thing would be volatile and shorts would be aggressive.

A few hours into my short, when it was a typical 25 cent profit (as you know I take too many of those) in the $3.50 range, I posted how I was gonna have patience on this one and cover under $3 cuz it was one of the few truly ideal PennyStocking Supernovas to pop its trashy head up in the past few months, even if as I also noted that this was the 3rd great shortable penny stock action in as many days (LGDI which I made $350 on and VRML round one, where I screwed up and lost $180, even while calling it perfectly for readers!)

Stop Trading So Much And Enjoy TIMpics, Talking Photos!

Tags: Blogging, Cool Products, Patience, Pictures

Since incredible trading opportunities like LGDI today (see my reasoning / the play-by-play of my imperfect yet supremely profitable trade in THIS post /comments section) don’t come about every day, I decided this newly redesigned website would not only feature hardcore market / trading content, but also funny stuff, meant to occupy your time during market hours so you’re not tempted to trade the random crap, while also sending you subliminal messages to get you to buy my instructional DVD PennyStocking and book An American Hedge Fund…just kidding…or am I?

Without further bloated introduction, I give you TIMpics! Forget about just regular photos—those are so 1990—these pictures have cool software that allows me to add audio bubbles so you can hear those pictured express their innermost feelings. Get ready cuz these are just the first batch…and soon you’ll be able to upload your own, winning TIMbucks / prizes for the funniest ones…

The Peak—this was it, I coulda woulda shoulda short sold my life that night

Trading The Latest Hot Beverage Stock: Skinny Nutritional (SKNY.OB)

Tags: Breakouts, DVD, Hot Stocks, Manipulation, Patience, Patterns To Buy, So Hot Right Now, Story Stocks

Skinny Nutritional (SKNY.OB) (oxymoronic?) just launched the latest zero calorie water brand, Skinny Water, lured in some third-tier Coca Cola executive to serve on their board, basically entirely for his title (giving him 2mil shares–and many others many millions more–while unsuccessfully / humorously / amateurishly trying to ticker spam that announcement to get included in the Yahoo! news of Coca-Cola bottling (COKE), Pepsi (PEP) and of course Coca Cola (KO) (silly pumpers, for some strange reason, you guys haven’t read my book An American Hedge Fund, if you had, you’d know ticker spam is for kids…back in 1999-2000!), all the while trying to pitch themselves as the next Vitamin Water.

Isn’t that pretty? Awww almost as pretty as VVTV, MALL and HALO spiking at the open, now up just a little, breakdowns still possible, but justifying my decision to cut my shorts so quickly yesterday…little losses on the screen/website aren’t pretty, but they’re prettier than big losses kinda, more short sellers should learn to trade so scared…maybe then the category as a whole wouldn’t put up such god awful numbers all the time!
