9 Stocks I’m Investigating As Potential Short Sales
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Thu 4th of Sep, 2008 10:24:36 AMThis post went out to TIMalert subscribers late last night and I’m short one of the stocks and up 3% so far….can you guess which one?
Some decent potential plays today, but I’ve got a big TV appearance at 2pm in CT so I’ll be out for the day after 10:30am….suxxxxxx, but it can’t be helped.
COIN/COINW I was early on with my TIMalert to short (detailed post coming)…was right for 25 cents/share of downside, but it surprisingly rebounded after it went negative on the day…probly cuz it wasn’t an afternoon fade, ‘twas still morning, shorts like me got squeezed…$150ish loss won’t keep me up at night—FYI my biggest gains ALWAYS came after my biggest losses cuz I used to always be early in my shorts….controlling losses—buying to cover before the market close so as not to risk morning squeeze today—that’s huuuuuge. No doubt this will be a good short either today, Friday or next week, just a waiting game for the right price action…LiveStock will be on Friday from 1-2PM EST so it’d be cool if its during that time we get a crack, might have to be an extended show!
SIGA dropped 20 cents when it broke support…so far…nice boring breakdown, probable further to go, just too boring
STSI had a nice 40 cent morning dump, then gradual rebound, not fun for shorts unless your quick… TIMalerts always has a time delay so I’ll never look to grab these morning dumps the same day, only the night before
MITI cracked big, I was wrong…it happens…congrats to those who shorted and won big…before it rebounded…messy, messy, now its even deader to me
CHCI was up a lot, good call Muddy, welcome back buddy, this is why I don’t like shorting stocks under $1, muli-100%+ gains very possible intraday…let’s see if it can get over $1 and make it a possible short
CRWG remember when I thought IDAE was the only social networking play, well, now there’s this one…sorta—they wanna do targeted advertising on forums, cool, sign me up…no way in hell this is worth $90 million either (IDAE’s audiotor just resigned LOL), but don’t fight the breakout, especially when there’s so little downside…oh yeah they’re also a paid spammer, $100,000
SSCC benefitted from sector price hike, this is solid fundamental news, not shortable for any big collapse
TGIC I don’t care about, it’s a finance/mortgage play, same crap at FMD/ABK/MBI, not for me

Tim, I live in Europe so unfrotunately I can short that type of stocks. We have platform here here you can short NASDAQ stocks but it is almost impossible to find small companies to margin. Do you know of a fucking platform reachable in Old Europe fot penny stocking?
Blo, have a look at www.interactivebrokers.com
Many of us are on IB. Cheap transaction cost, lots of stocks. Platform is ok but you want to use the free quotetracker for charts that links to IB. Customer support suck a little but who cares.
Liste on Nasdaq; IBKR
I’m not involved with IB, I’m only a customer.
Blo check out www.thinkorswim.com
TOS is another good choice, Tim actually use it.
Anyone see SPNC today down 50% and halted.
yep, I traded SPNC for a loss and sold it at $5.29 a few minutes before it got halted. I was lucky. other bagholders are probably pretty screwed right now
