This Is A Message To My 1,200 Covestor Followers

Tags: Cool Opportunities, Cool Products, Fess Up Time, Short Selling, So Hot Right Now

First, thank you for following me on Covestor (those who don’t can do it HERE), Covestor is hugely important in bringing transparnecy to this industry filled with liars, cheats and frauds.

More importantly, looking at my performance data below, aka how you would’ve performed if you’d been following my strategy/picks/trades, (yes, those outrageous numbers are due to me taking only 1 position at a time, aka Covestor treats it as 100% cash used per trade, when in reality it’s 20-40%..Covestor is making me think I should be more aggressive!) it’s understandable why you can’t wait for Covestor to unveil their “autotrade” feature, but these kinds of ridiculous gains ain’t gonna be easy for you to achieve.

For better or worse, I owe much of the success of my strategy (you can see all my trades HERE)(which you can learn to do on your own through my ridiculously well-received PStocking instructional DVD package, learn more + read reviews HERE and don’t be so fat and lazy to have to rely on me anymore) to short selling, which often requires the borrowing of shares to short ahead of time.

And of course there are scalability issues as ideal entries and exits–no matter how flawed my own personal trading has been–becomes problematic after you have a few million dollars.

Basically, autotrade will never work with my ideal strategy so your 2 options are to learn my strategy for yourself with that DVD mentioned above or subscribed to my TIMalerts real-time trade alerts service, which is basically what Covestor aims to do, but without the autotrade feature.

The good news is that since I know full well about these issues, TIMalerts main strength is the 8am morning watchlist emailed to you and posted on subscribers-only TIMalerts.com website. This allows subscribers to reserve shares early in the morning, before the brokers run out of shares to dole out, which sometimes happens with these perfect shorting opportunities.

Even better news is that out of 18 TIMalerts so far, all 18 of them have been winners (don’t expect perfection to continue) over the next 1-2 days, which is my usual trading timeframe. The average gain per alert in June was 18% and July we got all the way up to 24%, thanks to my latest 2 alerts on 47%-return-in-2-days U.S. Shipping Partners L.P. (USS) (click HERE to learn the details) and 30%-return-in-1-day Mechanical Technology Inc. (MKTY) (click HERE to learn the details).

And while the majority of my trades/alerts will be short sells, some have been buys (basically 2 shorts for every buy), so I’m going to create another Covestor account specifically for longs only (when my original account is large enough to be broken into 2).

I apologize my strategy isn’t easy to replicate, but that’s its gift and its curse–if it was so easy, everybody would be doing it and it wouldn’t work anymore. for now, the 300+ TIMalert subscribers are banking (read the testimonials on the TIMalerts table HERE) and even more importantly, there’s no one right way to play this game as it works over multiple time frames–check out THIS GUY whose adapted my strategy to be more of a longer term swing trading strategy.

I am currently #26 on Covestor for risk/reward, despite doing most of my trades in my non-Covestor account.

Yeah covestor is great…it just takes a while to update your risk assessment and sharpe ratio until you have had it at least a month so you wont show up in the rankings until that updates.

Hey Tim I think you have been aggressive enough considering you are teaching us how to make money consistently and to be able to stay in the biz.

I know you’ve proven your strategy enough that nobody can question your system. But do you have any feel for if this volatility and bear sentiment is helping your trades? Covestor keeps men honest, no more bragging without backing it up.

Oil monster drop. Don’t get excited bears. A hedgefund blew up and liquidated positions in all commodities by force. Iran vowed to never terminate nuclear program. Israel threatened to destroy Iran over the weekend.

Read an article that real unemployment rate in the US is at 9.7%. The government numbers are a bunch of bullshit. GDP reported last week is misleading. Country has been in recession since Q4 of 06.

Look for DOW to hit around 6K by end of 2010. We’re going down for the count. Hold off those home purchases. You’ll be able to get a buy 1 get one free special waiting another 2 years.

Chicken Little…err…i mean TommyTim, depreciating home values are pretty contained to a few major cities/states. My area homes are still appreciating just fine. Subprime loans only made up a very small percentage of all home loans in the US. The foreclosure rates may be up but foreclosure percentages of all home loans wasn’t even 1% last I saw. It may have finally cracked 1% since I stopped paying attention.

LOL geared investor, what volatility? dont listen to the media, 10-25% index moves are nothing, nothing like 1999-2002…here’ll always be pumps, just a question of how many and how successful, thats all that matters to my strategy

I was #9 on Covestor some days ago but I’m no longer on the rankings, even though my Sharpe Ratio was in the 3’s. I asked them why, and I guess their changing their rankings system to favor people that have been on Covestor for a while. So someone who hasn’t been on there very long (been there since end of April) like me won’t be in the rankings.

Singed up today! Can not wait to makes some trades so covestor can ranking me.

Seems to me that Covester is going to have a battle with the SEC to be able to allow people to auto trade others. With 90% of traders losing money every day there is a lot of downside to following others traders, especially automatically. I know that I am following Tim with Timalerts but its mostly because I am trying to learn from his success and am striving to be able to do it all on my own. Even after I start doing things all on my own I will still keep the TimAlerts simply for the watchlists every morning just for the valuable picks.

I want to see more of you Tim Alert’s subscribers posting your Covestor pages.

I Want to see how the magic is really working out for you guys.

I’m doing alright (In the top 100 at the moment) , but nothing like Tim, hes annihilating the Rankings.

LOL this isnt magic, this isnt the get rich strtategy of all time, its just a way to make money in the markets….u guys are spoiled by my success, its gonn take years for me to teach all the subtleties, just be glad u’re not condemned to be the 90% of people who lose $ anymore

    August 5th, 2008 at 8:59 am

BTW, any idea how many people the rankings on Covestor are out of?

I’m guessing at least more than 10,000.

GLCC is taking off. Yesterday 25% up,.. today another 15%. Compare the chart of the last few days with May 23 - 27. It rallied up 1500%
