EDAP TMS S.A. (ADR) (EDAP) I was absolutely dying to short when it surged from $1.5 to $6 in 2 days, not due to news, due to momentum buyers pushing and short sellers get squeezed AFTER the initial runup…now all the way back down to $3.76, I still only saw 7 shares available to short at Interactive Brokers…soooooo disappointing, but these hard-to-borrows will happen, next!

Rentech, Inc. (RTK) was beautiful because it was auto-tradeable (through my Covestor account) totally liquid, easy to borrow (Interactive Brokers had hundreds of thousands of shares available), really just a great setup…I’m very proud of the $30,000+ in TIMalert subscriber profits on this one…I shorted at $2.42 and covered at $2.20 for an 8% gain in an hour just shorted for the price action because I believed it would fade from green on the day to red on the day…nailed that for a quick easy gain, trading like the castrated choir boy that I am (TIMfundamentals DVD students get the reference, the rest of you think I’m weird)…late day the scumbags announced a financing deal at $1.75, tanking the stock below $2, but while that news doesn’t surprise me (HEB and a thousand other cash-starved penny stock use the same trick), no way was I going to try to predict it happening and at such a low price…now the stock is dead to me, this financing will make it trade around $1.75 for the next few days, it’s actually good for the company and remember they did win a big contract, just got over-extended/hyped.

Speedus Corp. (SPDE) was another play with the same price action as RTK and this one also faded down for 20% on the day although it wasn’t very liquid, nor were there many shares available to short…several TIMalert subscribers profited on this one though, I probly should have too, but I hate shorting illiquid stock, much prefer RTK!…this stock still has a bit more downside, but its faded nearly 40% off its recent spike high, I probly won’t play it, just keep it on my watchllist for future spikes to short.

Anika Therapeutics, Inc. (ANIK) spiked $2 to $7 after winning approval for their drug…no real play
here yet since its just the first big up day…price action was rather flat all day long

Reddy Ice Holdings, Inc (FRZ) is now up 2 days in a row from $2.5 to $5…began fading yesterday afternoon, but still up 20%…key is a break of $4.50 technical support which it held above, barely, all day yesterday…definite potential short today, but if it does crack in the morning, the drop could be quick too quick for an alert, so let’s pray for a morning spike and afternoon fade (if you’re not familiar with these all-too-common patterns, please stop emailing me and educate yourselves with over 42 hours worth of instructional DVDs…its sad that some of you are willing to risk tens of thousands of dollars before making the effort to actually learn my strategy!

Frederick’s of Hollywood Group Inc. (FOH) the women’s underwear maker has been hot, surging from $1 to $2 on increasing volume the past few days…the company is a carcass, but one insider buying a few thousand shares has got everyone riled up…this is a definite potential short once the proper fading price action sets in (see PennyStocking Part Deux)
