The Latest TIMalerts 20%+ Winner: Republic Bancorp, Inc. KY (RBCAA)

Posted by Timothy Sykes on Sun 26th of Oct, 2008 11:00:22 AM

This was the weirdest TIMalert I’ve ever sent out, so try to follow the chain of events…

Original alert:

shorted 300 RBCAA at $23.55…all based on THIS scathing research by Citron Research…this guy is one of the best short sellers around and he has quite a following–as u can see from the intraday chart, it dropped big when the article first came out and now has bounce a little along with the overall market…with only 300 shares, this is low risk, i’ll cut my losses if i get down $1/share or so, but the stock was only at $24 when the report came out so unless the market really turns around–unlikely–i think this heads back to the day lows around $22…maybe even a gap down tomorrow…Citron has had many big winners, most recently FOUR and PDO–he put out alerts right near the top on both stocks, so this isn’t my call, this is his call, i’m just trying to go along for the ride

TIMalert I sent out right before the market close at 3:51pm:

$300ish loss, safe loss cutting, not even an option to hold overnight, market rebounded, stock rebounded, shorts get squeezed, not taking any chances

Just as I was about to sulk for being dead wrong, I received an email from Citron at 3:53pm–as I am a subscriber on their list–reposting what was already on their website…

Can you guess what happened?

The stock dropped $2/share smack into the market close as thousands of loyal Citron subscribers–Andrew’s got a great track record–jumped in short!

The chart below shows how it all panned out:

I got out at the worst possible minute, but I’d do it again exactly the same all over again because quick loss cutting is a hard rule I have. Luckily, for many TIMalert subscribers, emails take a few minutes to be sent out so by the time they got it, the stock had either dropped substantially–sneaky Citron with the delayed email, sneaky, sneaky–or the market had closed for the day and they were fortunate to get an even bigger drop the next morning, partly due to late coming short sellers and more importantly, the overall “panic” at the market open for the entire stock market.

Basically, I played it waaaay safe–as I usually do–and turned out to be the only one who didn’t bank on this TIMalert…still, a good alert and a good trade, despite my loss. Reaper had like 7,000 shares short so I’m waiting for a blog post to say how much he banked (you better do it buddy, you’re living proof how much a TIMalert subscriber can make), but for now see some subscriber testimonials below:

Well, I know Tim’s timing is usually off, so I held overnight. I just covered at 19.44 for a 20.77% profit after commissions. Thanks Tim!

I shorted @ 23.39 and covered at 22.50 near the close. Thanks Tim..!!
-MG

I got out at $22.95. Made $110. Thanks Tim
-Stussy

rode this one to $22.60 – made $120 on my SMALL position! not bad for 20 minutes
-Jeremy

In at 23.56, out at 22.49 just before the bell. Not bad. Sorry it didn’t work out for you, Tim.

So by fighting the tyrannical message board spammers that drive up stock prices, you really mean you are doing the same thing on the short side. Keep fighting the man...

    Tim...thanks!

"Tim, you don’t get credit for my gains here. " Lol, I like that. Seems to me that the penny stock shorting crowd is exactly that. A crowd that gets together informally and together creates one big position able to affect the market short term for their own goals. Admit it or not Tim, you are exactly the same as those you claim to despise.

Oh, and do you really talk to your mom as it is portrayed on WSW?
  • a good pick is one that has a solid risk-reward ration...considering i cut my losses at $1/share and the potential reward proved to be $5+, thats a good risk-reward...learn what the hell trading is all about before wasting my time again
  • Tim, you don't get credit for my gains here. I was playing Citron Research picks before I knew of you. I also got into RBCAA before your alert. I alerted your chatroom to the article and my position before you alerted. All that I'll say about my profit is that I made lots of money.

Didn't you just lose $300 yourself, and still call this a "good" pick?

How do you define a "good" or "bad" pick? As always with any picks, some people will make money and post positive testimonials, so you can proceed to call it a "good" pick. So far, a "good" pick seems to mean "x subscribers made $y", which will always be true given the number of subscribers you have (600+), regardless of what stock you pick.

Did you ever admit to having a "bad" pick previously and have a barrage of negative comments?
  • u forget timalerts.com and this site are both open to comment by all, its not a question of me "publishing" negative testimonials, everyone can see it for themselves.

as for finding a volatile stock, this was not volatile until the fraud report came out...it was published on that website for all to see, i just sent out an alert notfiying my subscribers and my email went out before that site's email went out...again, pick on me when i have a bad pick, not a good one you friggin moron!

nice marketing once again! just pick a volatile stock, and a portion of the subscribers will make money, so you get all the credit! while others will lose money like yourself, and are either too embarrassed to admit or can easily be blamed for not buying and studying your dvds carefully enough.

i know it is difficult to publish negative testimonials, especially when your main source of income seems to derive from dvd sales and subscription.
  • c'mon reaper, how much u make?
