How the F$%^ Am I Still #1 On Covestor?

When I see posts like THIS, I can’t help but laugh. TMK takes his “trading blog” to a new all-time low by proclaiming:

My overall picks during this last week were 13 for 20 on “trigger” rate, for a combined gain of 172%.

Basically he’s saying that if you traded off his blog post “triggers”, you woulda been right the majority of the time and those percent gains added together woulda been 100%+.

Now that’s some creative accounting!

Blah blah blah, soooo many ways you can make yourself seem important/impressive and yet the vast majority of those ways are BS, all I know is that the guy has a Thinkorswim account yet refuses to go on the transparent platform Covestor to back up his “big returns”, he stopped doubling and tripling his account right after the last time I called him out for probly lying about his true trading stats and is now massaging his blog info to make himself look as good as possible.

TMK you lil bitch–why don’t you just go on Covestor and try to prove me wrong about you? Or setup TMKalerts (and give me 10% for the idea)…this isn’t personal, you’re just an easy target to take down considering I’m naively featured you a few times and now you’re proving yourself to be a perfect example of what’s wrong with this joke of an industry.

Credibility.

You have none. Nor will you have any with the path you’re taking.

It’s okay, the vast majority in this joke of an industry also have none and they make decent money anyway cuz they massage data too! I don’t care if it hurts my sales to belittle potential affiliates/partners–howe the f$%^ can I partner with people who promote/sell products/websites without proving themselves openly?

Seriously guys-if you’re not a fund manager or employed by some big firm, why wouldn’t you sign up to Covestor and prove yourself to the world? It’d save me from having to write obvious blog posts like this.

I mean how is it that I’m still #1 on that site, basically quadrupling the returns of everyone else? Seriously. I’m not that great a trader. My research time is cut in half by blogging, emailing and working on new DVDS/websites.

It’s absolutely pathetic nobody has toppled me by now.

Seriously.

Forget the lil bitch TMK for a second, is there no one else?

    As an avid follower of TMK’s blog, I’ll be the first person attest that this “trigger” idea is unpolished and often misleading. TMK instituted it to help guide some of his followers due to school obligations (he is, after all, a kid). I have no clue why he chooses to ADD together the movements of his triggered trades, some of which occur concurrently. The exit points are often arbitrary and self-serving (much like TIMalerts “ideal exits” which are often only 5% above the trigger price and only evident in hindsight).

    I’d have to disagree about the comparison to TIMAlerts, after calculating that every single June TIM pick continued to perform beyond Tim’s exit, many times 2x, 3x, 4x the profit on the actual ideal exit.

    yah my ideal exits could be muuuuch bigger % gains for me, i just take reasonable exit points over the next 1-2 days…many of my subscribers actually get out there, as u can see in the testimonials…question, why doesnt everyone have sooooooooooooo many testimonials from their peeps?

    Well I am into this for a week so far and allready I have learned more in a week then the last three years. I actualy think I am learning to much because I am currently at the point were all of my money is out of all my old positions and I don’t have the ignorence I used to. To just dump it into just anything. I still have not made my first trade with this system and that in it’s self is a huge turnaround for me.

    So I haven’t made anything yet but I have stopped loosing!!

That 172% is just added up all of the possible returns on average trades. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with stock trading returns!! Just a simple move addition.

    Hey Tim, I’ve followed both your and TMK’s blog for almost a year now. I got to say that TMK is a real talented trader. Give the guy a break he is in high school for god sakes. I have lots of respect for you and what you have done but your bashing does get a little old. Plus you embellish your tim alerts alittle as well, and I’d be willing to bet some of the trades in your book were embellished just a bit. Nothing against you, I enjoyed your book, I would just say to lighten up and give TMK a break.

    Tim, stop posting ‘ideal’ exit profit percentages for TimAlerts and then you can bash TMK. Adding of profits is dumb, but his ideas are good. He was the one who brought GFET to my attention two weeks ago and I made $1500 as a result (Mike 13th also found that independently and also made money on it).

    I guess I have no hope of being tops on Covestor since I will soon close my TOS account (assuming my new account works out). Maybe though I’ll keep $5k in it to trade just to remain high on Covestor.

    For some reason you want everybody to be transparent and sign up for covestor when in fact it’s flat wrong. It’ll show you if someone is making or losing money but its impossible to know their % returns.

    Tim there might be someone higher than you on Covestor(doubt it though), because covestor freaking removes people from rankings if they dont think they can keep their returns constant. For example Tony Ellis and YngvaiMalmsteve got removed even though they should be in the top 100.

    I use covestor and interestingly enough, my returns have gotten better and better. I’m still not in the short game but it has made me consider the trades I do make because of course I want to be more in the black than the red. Only fakers and wanna be traders wouldn’t be transparent with their returns.

    IMO, it’s not a good idea to give out all your account information to a third party. Even if it is so called “secured”. When covestor can get returns correct it will not be BS but you can have someone be up $10.00 and covestor say’s their up 300%!

    Yeah i noticed Tim embellishing TimAlert % based off of perfect entry and exit points. Maybe I just filled in the information in my head but I didn’t get the impression he was trying to pull the wool over our eyes. It would maybe be in the title of the blog but when you read the blog it explained pretty clearly where the numbers came from and how much Tim left on the table with his own trade.

    I don’t know why TMK should get so offended I think I’ve been slammed worse back in elementary school. He’s calling you out to join covester. I takes like 5 mins, just join and be done with it. I give you props for being in high school and getting into trading so early. I wish I would have had the know how to get into it back then. I was a Junior or Senior in high school around the time Tim was making his initial million. I sure as hell didn’t have time to do any trading between class and tokin’.

    Do you all not realize anyone can make a stock call like that? Don’t think so? I’ll make one right now.

    Watch AAPL if it moves above 174 buy it for a gain, but it moves below 173.25 short it for a quick gain. I’ll be back tomorrow to let everyone on this site know if this call turned out positive or negative for me. I plan to use 100% of my capital on it as well. I guarantee a win.

    I’m with you on this one completely, and I LOVE Covestor, but the one reason I don’ go use their service is that I am a futures trader. I day trade the QM and have had good success, and am dying to show someone my results without having to shell out a fortune to KPMG or E&Y to prove my skill.

    I’ve been talking to them regularly trying to get them to get their asses in gear on this, but so far no luck. Keep up the good work.

    Tim makes a strong point, and I have never personally been drawn to reading TMK’s blog. There’s just something about it that lacks a genuine feel. I read Yngvai’s and the Green on the Screen blog on a regular basis and those individuals have never had to brag about their returns or anything. And in addition, their successes and failures appear realistic whereas TMK’s claim that he turned $8K into $32K is wanting in some more evidence for such a bold claim. If I claimed to turn $8K into $32K, I would need to have some evidence to back it up. Otherwise, what is stopping anyone from making that claim? I agree that “The Market Kid” is not trying to sell any product or service, so he doesn’t NEED to prove himself for that reason, but nonetheless he does need to put something up as proof if he wants people to believe him beyond face value. Those who do believe him and his talents return to his site; yet those who are SKEPTICAL, such as myself and Tim Sykes, will not even bother to read his site on a regular basis. As for me, I have been trading since June 2007 and my record is TERRIBLE, yet I still bother to maintain an updated Covestor account. And in addition, I am putting together my own website, and on this modest website I have uploaded screenshots of every monthly ‘History’ Statement from my TD Ameritrade account. Here is a link and you can click on “View Complete Trading History” for any month to see my ACTUAL trades. So with TMK, I do not see why he cannot do something as simple as make a Covestor account or something more complicated as uploading every screenshot from his brokerage account. A low-life vietnamese scumbag like me can do it, and my site is under heavy development with 0 readers, so I find it ABSURD that TMK can make his DUBIOUS claims without presenting at the very least SOME PROOF of anything! Otherwise, why believe him? Why read his site? That is the question, and that is why I never read his posts.

    Oh and as for Tim’s humorous reference to the Troy scene: damn, Tim, you’ve got 10+ years of experience ahead of us plus you are the creator and master of your own system, which you execute with extreme discipline, so when you ask “IS THERE NO ONE ELSE” I can only reply: yes, there is, but we are each still in training. I have only been at this since June 2007 and I wasn’t actually trading heavily until January 2008, so I have AT MOST only a year of experience behind me. But since I am still young I aspire to be as great as you and Fous, Tim. Mark my words. Mark themmmmmmm.

    Oh yeah your DVD was boring yet helpful, hopefully your next ones will include more dynamic charts Timmaaayyyyyy!

It wasn’t because TMK is no good, thousands of other so called analysts and f.u advisory services are no good too, and he ignored them. Yes, if u dig a little bit deeper, you will see jealousy is at work here. TMK up in 3 months from 8.5k to 50k and we watched him made picks everyday. It was TMK style and his success that spawn the hating posts. LMAO.

I just wanted to join in on the bashing and there was no personal malice intended. We’re all YOUNG guys here who trade on a daily basis so I don’t see why it is expected for us to be all gay and civil to one another. Every man has an opinion and I joined in with Sykes because he made a good point. But yes you’re right, I have NOTHING compared to TMK so I shouldn’t be talking too, but the claims made were not about me. The claims made were about TMK.
