No Trades But A Fun Financial Video Montage!

No trades the past two days—all my potential PennyStocking plays—COIN, SWC, CPST and STEN—have let me down in some way. COIN, I want a bigtime breakout, but it’s just messy breakout after messy little breakout, up a hardfought $2 over several days (although its continued strength on decreasing volume signals a potential Supernova pattern), SWC takes out $20 every morning but then bounces (until one time it won’t), CPST is up only 15 cents on a perfect breakout AND contract news and STEN, which I hoped to spike big in order to short into the absurdity, did to $6, but I couldn’t find shares to short! (now at $4, it’s tough to watch a $2 drop from the sidelines).

And then there’s the spam stocks like SOIGF, whose positive news helped it breakout into the close yesterday, but remembering how I made tens of thousands of dollars on it last time—by shorting into their seemingly endless spam promotions—I hesitated buying and have now missed out. The stock gapped nearly 20 cents to $1.40, now at $1.80! Damn stupid TIM, gotta get more comfortable buying spam stocks like this on strength. (Another spammer, MXFD, could soon be a good short)

This game might be hella fun and profitable, but the obstacles are many. Lots of plays come close to perfection, but unless all—and I do mean all—the variables are aligned, high-percentage, low-risk profits you shall not have. The lack of liquidity, shortable shares, difficulty in getting comfortable trading spam plays and truly perfect chart patterns are why pro traders stay away form this niche. The good news is that when the time is right, there’s really not much competition, other than naïve suckers and hype-hype-hyping stock promoters (chill out guys, website traffic and product sales are waaaay up, I’m well on my way to popularizing this stuff, we’ll get you your increased liquidity, please, please just gimme some more plays so we can really break into the bigtime!)

    What is your take on FEED, seems like it did not buzz down with DOW “-”ve 200 points, there might be another spike up as you said these craps don’t follow the market suit. COIN is the king right now, but I am afraid it might roll over to downside when it hit $17, just guessing. But I like to buy GS here, if market stressed out big.

    I was just up in boston the last couple of days and happened to visit the coin facility… It must have been the most ridiculous operation I have ever seen. Its two ran down warehouses and a small shady looking office building..lol I should of took pictures..Ill get them from my brother who lives there.. Tim will u post them??

    COIN…I sold before the close @ 16.60. No way I hold overnight. I think this will move sharply, but it’s a coin flip for which direction it will be.

    Teach us a lesson when is the right time to short this COIN pig? You mentioned to short when it spikes big time, and after the first day of turning red. But that example in SWC didn’t help, Tuesday SWC bleeded, I shorted at the close and only to cover losing some money on SWC swinging upside (a fakeout). Then today 14% down with the bad news. So, how to avoid similar situation? Besides, COIN is trickling up with more than 2.6 million volumes everyday. What are the signs you will be looking at it to short? Okay, how to determine the volume is right to short? Anything else we should be careful about? Thanks.

    search for the term “afternoon fade” in my blog posts about when to short a stock like COIN. or into a ridiculous spike. there’s no formula, u gotta play it by year. SWC acted weird cuz it’s a metals play, thats why i avoided it.

    I just got a stock market present. I had an order in to short sell 2k DWRI @ 2.78. Four seconds after opening, the order got filled. Four minutes later I covered @ 2.09 for a nice profit of $1360. Dumb luck. Poor sucker on the other end of the deal who most likely used a market order.

    I just covered my short on AXL at 2.15. Bad part was I did not get in until 2.57 and only for 500 shares. It was my first real short but I still made $200. I am kicking myself for not getting in sooner for more.

    Trader joe, why in the world would u short when a stock is down that much on the day? your risk is enormous, i have no idea what to do, i’d never put myself in that kind of a whole, your lucky the market is down so much

    ugh i feel sick now. i saw COOP and COIN both breakout today. Saw COOP when it broke 2 and froze only to watch it go to 2.95. i even had to order ready to go on my screen for 3000 shares. I don’t even wanna know how much i missed so i am not going to add it up. hope eveyone is having a good day.

    why r u guys shorting a stock that has proven to be resilient when its down so much on the day? did u not remember the afternoon fade pattern? did u forget the whole shorting when a stock goes from green to red? c’mon guys, the lessons i teach are there for a reason….let me guess, u though u could trade my strategy without watching my dvds, right? i mean why spend $300 on information…well, now u have your answer

    shorted 300 TEN, IN 5.710 OUT 5.4995, 60$ profit

    (first successfull short trade in my life!!)

    still short BCRX from when TIM jumped out, still up 121$ with a 0.05 cents trailing stop loss.

    No more trades on the US exchanges until Friday (potential day trade rubbish…)
    Will resort to using TIM Fundamentals on the SWX and LSE until then!

    Volume on BCRX is really low today, I am still short on this and up 162$ now.
    Been going sideways last 2 days and very slightly down, I suppose thats why no ones stop losses are been triggerd, I hope it cracks stupid resistance around 2.50 , simply cannot get it to get below 2.50.
    TIM, your thouhts on this? I know you dont have the patience for such boring plays, but wouldndt mind for hearing your opinion. (or anyone elses)

    Yeah today sucks- Since there are little to no TimAlerts that actually go out, Tim- maybe you could explain more of your strategy than whats on your DVDs instead of pushing your DVDs when someone takes a loss, Just my $0.02 dude!!

    Im not making any trades today, I bought some AMD June $5.00 calls and my long term portfolio is down so much I feel like not even having a portfolio anymore. COIN broke out as I thought, but of course I put my limit in too early and it didnt fill, missed that one…

    today has not been a good day at all. I missed COOP then i accidently pull the trigger on VNDA. luckily only losing a few dollars on that trade. I think i lost 30 or 40. it was not much at all but still stupid. I am still learning folks. still up 1.8k since joining TIMalerts. I plan on getting the TIM dvds very soon as i will probably buy two at a time, due to being a poor college grad and just started working and all. I really need those dvds.

    Reaper, I need some more Trader workstation tech support. I shorted IPSU yesterday and covered this morning. But how do I find my real profit? when I go to the account screen the Profit is waaay to high, like its only showing my gains today, not the actual trade gains.

    Tbohen – I use the following 3 columns in TWS to know profit. “P&L” is the day’s profit and loss. So this will not give you your actual P&L if you hold a position overnight. “Realized P&L” and “Unrealized P&L” do exactly what you think they would do, they show total profit on closed and open positions respectively. You can add these lines by going to “Configure” – “View” – “Other Layouts” (then select the page type you want to change; my TWS has like 10 tabs so I have different layouts on each tab).

    Following are my market data columns on my main TWS page:

    I’m paper trading my shorts, since I’m new to this. I would’ve banked $1400 on shorting COIN & COOP today after they spiked about mid-morning.

    After I get Pennystocking Part 2, any day now, I think I’ll put some real money to work.

    In the process on transfering account to ToS. Just filled out all that paperwork. Now i gotta do the ACAT transfer and then buy some dvds. I have a few questions for Tim or anyone else that can answer them. First off i was messin aound in the paper account and was trying some shorts when it starts hard to borrow do i need to call them in the morning to request shares because I got rejected on my offer to short? Secondly i keep hearing people talk about the morning panic and the afternoon fade as key short indicators and i would like to learn these. Which of these dvds goes into depth about those. I have made all my money on the long side since being here with COT, 2x LEA, ANDS, but i need to learn shorts too. Until then i still got my IRA account which i can only go long. Any suggestions?

    short AXL 2,59 (yesterday) covered 2,0997 in the morning ~+245$
    short RT 6,78 (yesterday) cover 6,12 in the morning ~+132$

    duzas – if you don’t mind me asking, what size account are you using and how much time are you spending per day on your trades?

    I am waiting for my funds to be deposited in my TOS account – currently using my bank account w/ little success (high commissions and poor platform are killing me).

    ehrof, just about $5000 in that account. How much time? I don’t know. But i’m always trying to be online – it’s like in school or university – you must always to learn from the live market – history charts show nothing. I learned/worked like this about year in another market (omx) and i’m here only about month or two. :)
