Good Speech, Bad Pizza

Watch these 7 free video lessons on how I became a millionaire

You now when you wake up to 30+ Facebook friend requests from Rutgers students when you spoke to only about 40 people the night before and you’re getting messages like: “hey man. thanks for coming to RU! you bring a whole enthusiasm and honest knowledge to trading that ive never seen before”, you did something right. God, I love speaking—people and groups out there: book me, seriously—you won’t regret it, I just go crazy and let it all out. Think my book + swearing. Only bad part is the group gave me some pizza that tasted pretty good, but now it’s made me pretty sick.

TIM Lesson: Never trust pizza from the Rutgers Student Center

Today, the overall market might’ve surged, but the smallcap momentum plays couldn’t hold their early gains. In the morning, (COIN) pulled its typical high $9s to mid-$10s back to high $9s pattern (will it ever stick?). (IDMI) and (NYNY) both coulda woulda shoulda been great 15% low priced gap up plays—I don’t like buying into weakness—but both faded into oblivion afterwards. Higher priced momo names like (CHNR), (APWR) and (YTEC) hardly put up a fight with (APWR) basically double topping around $19ish even after two new contracts and being supremely hyped on TheLion.com. (ORCT) reported their typical sub-standard earnings—making me look smart for avoiding that crap.

I’m done for, I gotta go puke. Again. This sucks.

    Tim,

TGAL, up 100% in past week or so. Volume fading, nearing resistance. I know they beat earnings and finally made a couple bucks.. short on weakness or avoid?

  • WallST_Wizard

Hey Be-the-ball just thought I’d offer my opinion, and yeah that looks like it could be a good short play and even if it doesnt work out just put ur stop maybe 10 or 15 cents above that resistance point for a small loss, but i would wait till at least the first down day, also it does look like volume is drying up and momentum is slowing so good luck =)

  • timsykes

i don’t care if its up 300%–its an earnings mover–the one penny stoc to ever make it–BOOM–was an earnings mover. that said, TGAL is also uptrending gradually, not spiking. looks very rational

  • td

any long ideas for today befor close?

  • timsykes

bought 700 CTIB at $5.35, right until after i bought it looked like it was gonna take out the days highs. looking for gap up nonetheless

  • be-the-ball

tim, good eye, played CTIB this AM from 4.75 to 5.10. Looks like I sold too soon, but i avoided that afternoon swoon….

  • Eric T

Tim – how much of a gap up are you expecting tomorrow for CTIB? What are the signs that show a gap up?

  • timsykes

horrible close on CTIB, better signs of gap up for SWHC. just picked the wrong horse.

  • russ

Well POT closed at $149.28 up $5.20 but did hit a new 52 week high of $154.63 at around 1030am. I’m not a daytrader and hold only200 shares in my roth IRA at $131. Just thought I would add this to this board for informational purposes as the theme seems to be lower priced momentum stocks. I plan to add on dips if we get any dips. MOS had a great day too although weak at the close.

  • tim

Tim, When are you coming up to Bentley College to give a speech??? We could get you better pizza….

  • Neil

    I am a Bentley Grad! 1989. I’m old!

  • tim

    Neil,

It’s nice to know there’s a Bentley person on here. Happy Trading, GO FALCONS!!!

  • lmsmith

Hey Tim, Coin has a serious pattern- It’s been doing the same thing for about 3 weeks now…..It mostly open high in the a.m and then fade in the afternoon, It seems like it can not break beyond 10ish……. I usually buy if it closes at a low- wait for the morning spike and sell… It hasn’t failed me yet….

  • timsykes

i’m tempted to trade COIN too but thhats a dangerous pattern. never ever short at the to–the one time it doesnt, it’ll break out huge.

  • timsykes

I’d love to speak a Bentley, have someone who’s in charge of that stuff contact me!

  • TheRealDeal

    Tim,

what would you suggest for someone who has a lot going on during the day and can’t be at a computer always (although I do have the iphone). Can you have success by putting in a lot of your orders when the markets are closed so that when they open up you don’t have to put them in then?

  • timsykes

Prioritize, Focus on open and close, never put in order when markets are closed.

  • puma

    tim,

you must come to Baruch College! its full of young investors, itd be great to have you.

oh, and how do you feel on Buffet’s statements today, think it will be a catalyst for mortgage/housing/finance stocks? i was looking at HCM, LUM, and IMH

  • timsykes

i spoke to the baruch quants, good times. i could care less about buffett and housing stocks, all guessing games played by everyone but me

  • D

Oh come on, i lived off that pizza for 4 years there!! Tim, how about COIN long here for a change?

  • Reaper

-$221. Total TimLoss this year: -$1048

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

nice vestor, way to think outside the box!

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

soooo many profit angles out there… its great…i shoulda woulda coulda had my sell order at the open at $8.49 and i woulda sold 1/2 my position there, stupid mistake

  • vestor707

I think that morning panic shook some people up.

  • alejo

Once again… like in the past couple of months, it seems the better chance to profit is by doing the opposite of tim… if he buys a stock, sell it!

No offense tim, don’t be a baby and start arguing. Just admit it is true: now your trading sucks

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

alejo, theres ALWAYS been the opportunity to go both ways u’ve just been too dumb to realize it

  • alejo

Of course I known there is ALWAYS opportunity to go both ways. But, if you are honest, you will admit that for the past months the best opportunity is the opposite of your alerts

  • alejo

Just look at the record of your last trades…

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

alejo, u can take my alerts however u want, of course i’m not doing as well lately, havent been any true supernovas

  • rassoodock

Nice “panic”, more like market makers taking out stop loss orders

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

serves me right, CRYP and SFLY both breaking out perfectly

  • Omaggio

    Why not enter SFLY now?

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

54k sell order at $8.50, will buy if it starts chipping away at that, not gonna be easy though

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

  • be-the-ball

    lol tim

  • mediamadness

GASS is moving. I’m long and may carry it over the weekend depending on how it’s shaping up by close today. I got in at 6.01 currently 6.15 will bail if below 5.85. I’ll put a stop loss in above 6.50 if it breaks it today and I decide to carry the weekend. If that happens I’m targeting 7.00 + on Monday

  • mediamadness

For what it’s worth, my watch list today…GASS, OIIM, CRUS, EROC, FXEN, TXRH

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

nice buy on GASS, same pattern

  • mediamadness

    GASS @ 6.40 and climbing!

  • kovacr2

Looking at mid & late day price action of RF. Financial services S&P sub index strong today, market seems to have discounted bad news, lotta bottom pickers in the financial sector right now. Watching momentum, MACD, RSI & Stock indicators to diverge downward when price testing $3.75-4 resistance (see HRZ chart a couple of days ago), possible short for 6-10% drop. If it breaks res. will watch last 5-15 mins of trading day to see if B/O succeeds. Thoughts?

  • SwheatPete

    Is there LIVESTOCK today?

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

  • Applegene

    will Buy @ 9.00> correction,

  • rassoodock

Sold out $93 loss in weird morning price action using a conditional sell order (like a stop loss but mmer can’t see it), so basically still got robbed by the market maker who probably saw all the other momentum buyer/sellers stop losses while manipulating the price in the 1st minute of trading. Good pick though, shoulda held onto it.

  • Applegene

Looks like sfly is headed back down… :-) have order in to buy @ 8.00

  • JEG

held on to SFLY to 8.65 from 8.24 for $390

  • supernova

bought 500 SFLY at 8.27 sold at 8.68 for 190 profit

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

    nice JEG and supernova!

  • dseo80

sold SFLY for 8.16 after alert went out. $50 Loss

  • supernova

check out PALM’s 6 month chart. is it me, or does this look like the makings of/ a full cup and handle?

  • rassoodock

uh, no. cup and handle is a continuation trend, and requires a prior uptrend.

  • Getshorty
