Shorted @ 6.05 - covered at 5.57. Not bad.... I'd like to have the guts to hold overnight but it didn't make any sense to do that.

I've profit from many others, lately APII and TAYD but none as bouncy as this.

Trying to learn the balance of patience with cutting your losses small.

I would have only covered if it broke the 6.25 with a higher high but had to leave, and stop losses just get me fucked on this ones.

Shorted 300 shares @ 6.006, covered @ 5.55 for a profit of $136.80 before trading costs. It is chump change, but it beats the hell out of the 2.5% butt-kicking I took in my 401(k) today. I could have improved my entry price by 20 cents or so, but I was trying to get the best price and chased it down. No complaints at all.

Keep it up Tim.

If the IRA penalty is having to reverse your tax savings, you'll end up the same, since now the gains will be fully taxed on your non tax shielded brokerage account.

If the Penalty for withdrawing from an IRA is bigger than just giving back the related tax savings, then it would be a good option.

This helped me to try and clear my mind from COIN.

Don't know why I thought of this, almost completely off topic, but it might help someone fund an account if it works --

Could you transfer money from a self-managed IRA to a regular brokerage account without early withdrawal penalty by:
1) Buy shares in a low volume non-volatile stock in the IRA.
2) Wait for a day with no after-hours bids, then put in a ridiculously low after-hours bid with your brokerage account.
3) In the IRA account, sell the shares after-hours at the brokerage account bid price.
4) Next day sell the shares from the brokerage account.

Voila! You lost money in your IRA and gained the same amount in your brokerage account, no IRS early withdrawal penalty. Now the money you thought was locked up with no margin/no short ability is free to use for TIMAlerts. Just a few bucks for commissions for the transfer.
