TIM Portfolio

Watch these 7 free video lessons on how I became a millionaire

I’m getting a lot of questions as to TIM’s exact portfolio. I’m in the process of creating a whole new page devoted to TIM and that should be ready in the next few days, but for now just realize that TIM’s portfolio consists of only 50,000 shares of CYGT (approximately 1/3 of TIM assets) and cash. Nothing else. All these other stocks I write about are just potential plays.

The reason being I don’t believe in diver

sification. It’s fine for long-term investors and most people who don’t have the time to watch the markets every second, but it’s not going to help you earn 100x your money in a few years. No, I aim to take positions only when I believe I think I can predict how a stock will perform over the next few hours or days. I don’t set price targets as I’m constantly judging the stocks based on their price action, but I do think it’s possible to predict which stocks will be strong or weak during specific time periods. I usually only take 1-2 positions at any given time so I can give them my full attention. Think of it like playing cards in Vegas–you don’t throw your chips around at 20 different tables, that would be crazy. Same kind of thinking applies here.

CYGT is definitely not a typical trade, but I think several factors (new CEO, upcoming IAAPA expo and earnings) will help the stock price in the coming days. Other than that, I’d love to be shorting some strong stocks like GSOL, but I can’t day trade very often until I get to $25k (that pattern day trading rule wasn’t in place last time I had this little amount of money!) so I have to pick my plays extra carefully for now. I could try to hold these stocks longer, but that’s not my style and getting away from one’s trading style is very dangerous.

I don’t see many perfect trade setups so it might be a little boring, but sometimes trading is boring and you have to accept that and not try to force profits. After all, trying to force trading profits is the surest path to trading losses.

Warning: TIM, Timothy Sykes, and the Easter Bunny have positions in CYGT.

Please note that due to factors including low market capitalization and/or insufficient public float, we consider some of these stocks to be small-cap stocks. You should be aware that such stocks are subject to more risk than stocks of larger companies, including greater volatility, lower liquidity and less publicly available information, and that postings such as this one can have an effect on their stock prices.

  • YoungGunz

Can you uninstall stuff on your computer or edit the settings in websense. Sounds like if you get caught using it you’d be in trouble anyways.

TomT – Get an iPhone, blackberry, or Windows Smartphone. ToS has some good programs for mobile phones. Or just stop trading and do your job. :)

Tim, I am a programmer and I usually buy my laptops from http://www.ibuypower.com . They are sort of a no-name brand, but if you are looking to not get ripped off by a name brand company you can get a pretty kick ass laptop for much cheaper than a dell or sony. Several of the developers I work with have bought from them and they are good machines for cheap.

Only possible downside is that their service may not be as good as a big company (I don’t know though).

    Hey Tim,

I just ordered your pennystocking dvd set. Now get out of Burger King and send the package to me ASAP! LOL

  • AdamN

Short WSCI from yesterday! Looking for a little more downside this morning.

    Hey Reaper,

I added a bookmark to TOS on my blackberry. It looks good and I think I can use it to trade if I’m not at my desk. One problem though is that I don’t see the capability for online chat on the mobile version. That’s critical when needing to reserve shares to short. Maybe the way to do it in that instance would be to do it the old fashioned way, a phone call to the broker.

  • Reaper

notesguy – I guess you will have to call them.

  • milingz

    dude, get an Alienware laptop

    You’ll pay a premium, but they’re awesome

  • be-the-ball

    Tim can afford the premium

  • notesguy88

Reaper, that’ll be the backup option if I have to get away from my desk.

  • AdamN

Out of WSCI @ 7.04 w/ a $280 profit after commissions. Taking profits when I can.

  • Getshorty

Pretty dull morning, will get to work and forget about stocks for a few hours, that way I’ll avoid forcing a trade that obviously is not there.

  • astaluss1

tim, if i were you (nonjew)

    1) dont get alienware, ripoff; like buying windows ;)
    2) ibuypower is a good company..but regular laptop decent price.
    3) buy a mac book bro > not cool enough
    3) buy an overclocked laptop that is semi-pricey but very very worth the money, top customer care (but i never use it), it will power your livesotck videos and multitask extremely well..((btw who the fuc* plays games on a laptop?)) – http://www.falcon-nw.com/ – my choice

  • astaluss1

  • nolimit

    prowley-

not all timalerts are for shorting stocks only.
that’s just what tim is better at doing.(his own words)

  • Dualmang

He is the king of looking at junk and knowing it’s going to tank. It may not be the day he advertises it, but it will shortly afterward.

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

    anything looking interesting?

  • Reaper

No. Penson (PNSN), the clearing firm for ToS, is one of the big gainers today, but it is a solid earnings breakout.

  • soldtoyou

    chcg

  • bestdeception

What laptop did you get Tim?

  • YoungGunz

No nothing really interesting. None of the picks in your morning watch list had any volatility. Could have scalped mnlu or idae if you had shares. wsci faded consistently from open till now, down .80
