MOJO and the Markets

Watch these 7 free video lessons on how I became a millionaire

On November 5th, MOJO, the hi-def TV network geared towards affluent males, announced the return of Wall Street Warriors in early January 2008–sadly I will not be returning as they’ll feature all new characters :(

Perhaps more importantly, they threw in a little surprise—two more TV shows dedicated to the finance/business world! Now

, every Thursday night in 2008, affluent men all over the world will be glued to their sets to watchWall Street Warriors (sadly, with all new characters), Bobby G.: Adventure Capitalist, a show about Bobby Genovese, a private equity manager who likes to buy up distressed companies and turn them around in addition to showing off his extravagant lifestyle and Start-Up Junkies, a show about serial entrepreneurs.

This is big news. As you can see the from the charts below, the US stock markets reacted swiftly; at first, there was joy and excitement, but within days, the markets were in freefall as people began thinking about the consequences of these developments.

“Private equity is private for a reason—once the world sees what really goes on behind the scenes, we’re talking major meltdown,” said a private equity fund manager who, due to industry regulations, wished to remain anonymous.

Another fund manager, who also wished to remain anonymous, said, “With three finance shows all airing on Thursday nights, I’m expecting the vast majority of affluent males to call in sick every Friday—you might as well reduce every financial company’s earnings estimates by 20% because it just became a 4-day work week.”

Very scary stuff, the question remains—is this kind of entertainment really worth the economic price of admission? Somehow I think it is.

I have 400 shares of USS reserved this morning on ToS. I was about one nerve ending short of hitting the button when I saw it jump up from $4.60 to $5 and back down to $4.80. Oh well, I was trying to stay strict to what Tim has been saying about shorting on its first down day. So far it has had 3 fat green candles in a row.

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

    reserved 1500 USS

  • YoungGunz

no shares available for HDY and IVVI on Think

  • YoungGunz

So whats the schedule looking like for you today Tim? Hopefully no meetings to keep you away from trading. You getting 2 hrs of sleep now instead of 3 with the new lady around?

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

actually 3 meetings today, got 4 hours of sleep

  • milingz

got 600 shares of USS for today, hopefully can profit off it today

    thanks tim

  • YoungGunz

Here’s an idea to add to your long list of todo’s…Have a symbol showing when you’re away and when your active. So when a stock is looking rip for the pickings and you’re away we know not to expect an alert. I know the real goal is to not have to rely on you to yell “ready, aim, FIRE!” But I think it would help to know that you’re not jumping on a trade because you don’t like it or your simply just not available to see it.

  • YoungGunz

Milingz, i think you were one of the few that got a good enter price but you lost confidence and took profit quickly. Either way you still made some coin and are back again for more.

  • gburleson1

    got 1500 shares of USS.

  • mjf9903

no more shares of USS available on TOS

  • YoungGunz

USS looking to gap up 20ish cents from yesterdays close of 4.28. Looks like it has been getting extended hours trading around 4.45-4.50.

  • YoungGunz

Good thing for Tim Alert subs that get the watchlist first. Hopefully the word don’t get out and you have a lot of whiners that start getting someones attention at the SEC…I know they are understaffed and incompetent but lately it seems any news related to short selling they start a witch hunt.

We’ll see Tim being surrounded in Wall St. with him yelling at the mob “I am a man, not an animal!!”

  • http://www.test.timothysykes.com timothysykes

here’s a solution, learn the patterns so well it wont matter if i’m here or not cuz u’ll know exactly what to do…if there’s an ideal setups–which USS is not-i’ll always rearrange my schedule to trade

  • adairjm

HDY PR out this morning. Should run up a bit.

  • YoungGunz

Thats why I added that the goal isn’t to rely on you and to learn for ourselves. Just an idea i had at the time that i thought i’d throw out there.

  • sayhellonsmile

Got out of USS at 4.50 in pre-market after going in at 3.75 and exiting at 3.98 before the run-up yesterday. Altogether a 7% play. I am really nervous because I am new so does that seem reasonable?

  • YoungGunz

and I am trying to learn the patterns as much as I can. The part of recognizing it as it develops is whats lagging. I feel like I am getting better though at seeing what you try to look for. I think it just comes down to experience of being able to discriminate a good pattern from one that has the same shape but isn’t good. Kinda like knowing the difference between a leopard and a cheetah or a bulldog and a pitbull.

  • YoungGunz

How are the fees trading pre-market? Don’t they get kinda spendy unless you’ve got a healthy sized position?

  • be-the-ball

nice work on the list today Tim, too bad there aren’t any better plays out there…

  • Reaper

When trading pre-market with IB I haven’t had to pay extra fees. I think it is the same with ToS. Only crappy brokers charge more for premarket.

  • YoungGunz

Big buyer for USS wanting 12,700 shares at 4.60

  • sayhellonsmile

    I didn’t get charged a pre-market fee :)

  • YoungGunz

10,700 shares sitting on the sell side too at 4.75

  • Webster

    It is going higher

  • lamecoder

What are you guys looking to do with uss.

  • astaluss1

how do you see whos about to sell and buy?

  • kelvin

    5.10 or 5.20 short uss…. i wish

  • YoungGunz

in ToS under the trade tab there is a section called trade grid. you can set how many grid tiles you want and apply different gadgets to them. one of them is level 2 qoutes. thats how you see bid and ask orders.

  • astaluss1

    wow thanks, this helps

  • TheParadox

No shares available for USS via ToS… looking at the comments, the early bird gets the worm.

  • bestdeception

rolled the dice on USS from 4.68 long and got out at 4.83. Made $284 after fees. Was going to flip short if we got almost to $5 and couldn’t break though, but don’t want to go short yet.

  • TheParadox

Hey, kinda new to trading, got a question. When you look at the BID/ASK level II… where it has the ASK/BID Size is that in 100′s?? 1000′s?? or just the raw number. (which doesn’t make sense). How do you know what the multiplier is on ToS.

  • YoungGunz

    100s in ToS

  • bestdeception

On most platforms you can change how it looks. In mine, I have it were if it says 100, it means 100. But I can also change it where if it says 100, it says 1. Depends on your settings. I don’t have TOS, but I’m sure if you look around in the level II options it should be there.

  • TheParadox

    thanks guys.

  • milingz

can u get the trade grid on web based trading?

  • YoungGunz

I couldn’t find it in the web based one.

  • astaluss1

bought 5000 shares of CNEX at .50 sold at .75….

after i tried to sell at .90.. dammit!

thanks TIM for the $1250 gain!

  • milingz

yeah younggunz, made a small profit yesterday…more if i woulda held it longer. got scared!

hopefully it breaks down some more today and we can all mak e abuck

  • YoungGunz

Even though it gapped up on the open at 4.72 it has been flat. Isn’t this kind of sideways action what you’re looking for to short into either at the close if it goes below 4.72? That would then be its first down day and make for a potential short setup Wednesday or would you short into the close if it’s looking like it will be below its open price?

  • MikeY

Been trying to reserve USS shares at TOS but they got none available.

  • bestdeception

Same with Schwab. No soup for me on the short side.

  • Reaper

LOL y’all’s gotta gets up early … I got my 10k shares reserved of USS at TOS. Not looking like I’ll use them, though.

  • bestdeception

Wow, see all those buyers that just lined up at 4.85 on USS? Makes me think there’s still going to be a push higher and a squeeze later.

  • brent

hell, i can’t even begin to think ss on USS til it gets above 5 bucks. Scott strikes again. not enough capital to move to ‘another’ broker.

  • Ross

Scott Trade won’t allow selling short on stock below $5 Do I need to open up a different account somewhere else?

  • Ross

    Beam me up Scotty.

  • brent

if you want to ss below 5 dollar stocks,,,, yes. 10k will get you an account at interactive brokers. Tim pushes TOS.

  • brent

ya know, looking at the charts for USS; if this thing breaks the $5 mark i don’t see resistance till $6 even amount then real resistance at roughly $7… comments?

  • YoungGunz

yeah i was hoping for it to crack 5 and i was going to jump on the wave and go long. it resisted and has been pretty steady sideways action all day…There are a pretty even amount of buyers and sellers going back and forth.

  • VS

Am new to this forum(TIMAlert). I am getting morning alert email.

Is it buy signal for USS from TIM today (as per 2nd post above) ?

All I know is, TIM will be sending buy/sell signal to everyone by email.

Am i missed something ? please advise. thanks.

  • YoungGunz

Tim sends out a morning watchlist at 8am est. like the one you see in this blog post. If he makes a trade during the day he will also email you as soon as he does it. The morning watchlists are important if you want to potentially short the stocks that he mentions because the available shares to borrow run out pretty fast after he sends out the email.

If you read the blog post you will see that USS was looking to be his most likely short for today as long as it performed the way he wanted it to. So far it has been holding flat through the day and he has not traded any stocks today so you haven’t missed anything except the chance to reserve shares to short of USS. You may get lucky and some might open up if other people that were planning to short give up on the stock or have already used them.

  • brent

HOT OFF THE PRESS… PPBV to go to 2.25… ” The Fagan Report”…. 450k paid advertisement and I got 2 of ‘em… Sooommeoone won’t get one…

  • brent

He also recommend buy: JYHW, CRWG FOHE, FORC and hold – PNGB. He even has a sell -FXPT 1-for-5 reverse split….

  • brent

    whada joke…. lol.

  • brent

course who knows may be good for some scalping. NOT me…

  • brent

can someone help me out on BJGP. running up from the 3.75 area, 5 days ago. currently 5.75. it does have revenue; ie. real company. comments?

  • yaktipper

etrade just sent me a reply about their short selling policy — under $5 is a 100% margin requirement, meaning you have to have the cash in your account to support the entire amount, but no restrictions on price for trading.

  • milingz

    uss dropping

  • Reaper

wow USS fell right after the TIM alert. I only got a tiny fill on my sell order. I don’t want to chase it yet.

  • Getshorty

Brent BJGP looks like a supernova to me, would consider shorting on a breakdown BUT there earnings come out on Monday August 11, therefore, if u play this one, be sure to be out of it by friday August 8th

  • YoungGunz

Here we go short 400 at 4.52 i was having that internal fight again asking WWTD (what would timmay do?) then magically the alert came and i pulled the trigger as soon as i saw uss.

  • Davey

    Short 2100 @ 4.61 covered at 4.42…400ish profit…TIMAlerts strikes again!

  • brent

    USS falling nicely…

  • brent

    wow, already below 4… niiiiice..

  • brent

    getshorty: thx

  • brent

i think thats 2 maybe 3 trades i’ve missed because the play was not over $5.

  • yaktipper

Wow congrats on USS, hopefully you guys are still in.

  • AdamN

Yes, congrats to those who were able to snag shares early this morning. I tried at like 8:30a on TOS and there were none, oh well, I’ll be in on the next play.

  • yaktipper

This might be the best TIMAlert yet. It dropped 10% during the few minutes I was watching.

  • Davey

wow what a terrible exit on my part…GL and congrats to those who are still in

  • bestdeception

wow….looky there. Wish I could’ve gotten some. Nice job guys.

  • adairjm

Damn, got in late to the game…still rode 1000 shares down from 3.80 to 3.30.

  • brent

hope you held for at least the $1 gain tim…

  • adairjm

This is the part where all the dedicated USS LONGS come in to get “cheap shares”. More downside tomorrow.

  • bestdeception

FWIW, I have been told by numerous brokers on Schwab that you can’t reserve shares through them. However, the one I spoke with today told me a way around it. He said if the price is at $5, put in a short ASAP with a limit at something way out of the money, $10, $20, whatever. Then Schwab has to hold those shares (if they can’t borrow the shares then, they will cancel your order immediately). As long as your order is “pending”, you then can short at will. Then as soon as you want to really go short, just change your limit price from $10, to $5, or whatever. Just an FYI for any other Schwab people that might be out there.
