John Forman, author of an excellent trading book, The Essentials of Trading, interviewed me last night for nearly an hour, describing me as “..an engaging young man with a great story to tell – one that provides a great many lessons for those getting started in the markets.”

And here’s my latest book review, by the CT Business Journal (that also got me the cover story!) in which the reporter says, “Sykes’ exuberance on the page is infectious…”. The article is entitled Confessions of a Fallen Hedge Fund Prince. Niiiiice.

    Hey Tim, how do you typically express % gain for shrot sales? I just covered my HYHY short (from $2.26) at $1.28. Would that be a 76% gain (2.26/1.28) – 1.0 or would it be .98/2.26 (43%)? Just curious if there’s a norm.

    Still in IDAE @ 2.35 too. I’m keeping stop of about 10 cents on it. Gonna let it run till it gets stopped out.

    BTB, no follower of mine uses market orders, and u might wanna learn to read my morning watchlist more closely:

    “MNLU keeps going, clear and defined breakout at $6, watch it soooooo closely, probly my favorite breakout play as it could really pop 50 cents-$1/share within a few minutes/hours”

    Nothing wrong with that, except that you preach against it.

    I should have bought the $6 breakout, you are correct there. Just grumpy I couldn’t get in on the action with you.

    BTB r u frggin kidding me? it was in my morning watchlist and i said this thing moves 50 cents-$1 on breakouts. thats exactly what just happened.

    either buy the morning or afternoon breakout, i missed the morning so i chose the afternoon…and i still think there’s a good chance this thing goes over $7 tomorrow, i am just always early on my exit (as u should realize by now)

    new day tommorrow… Help me out Tim. fucked everything today. went long when i shouldn’t have, TMR, and didn’t take advantage of breakout on MNLU or ALTH for that matter.

    Agreed, it’s all good, the sooner you get over $25K the better. Then we can really learn to enter and exit with you…. :-)
